Lightroom Classic

Platform: LRC 12, Camera Raw 15, Windows 11 - all up to date. I am scanning family photo albums, thus one "image" will have multiple "photos". Sometimes one photo will be lighter/darker than other photos. What I need is to be able to select / mask a simple rectangle so I can apply separate adjustments. However, this does not appear to be possible! One of the masking tools (brush) has an option to start with a rectangle, but then LRC applies "smart" object selection which invariably excludes part of the photo and/or expands beyond it. Selecting a rectangle using a free-hand brush tool is too difficult. I can do this easily in PS, but then I end up having to create duplicate files and spending extra time. I like LRC for this project because I can quickly crop & (global-)adjust 100+ album pages. It should be very easy to have a rectangle and circle/oval selection that can be left alone by the AI, with just the ususal resize/rotate handles. Thanks, Adriaan

Currently the way we can "Move" or "Duplicate and Move" existing components are overcomplicated and even long to execute.   This is what I suggest to improve and perform "Move" and "Duplicate and Move" faster and more simply.   "Duplicate and Move" existing component to create a new Mask   1. Hold Option/Alt and drag and drop existing Component outside its current Mask to "Duplicate and Move".   Basically drag in-between two Masks rather than go all the way up to the + Icon...easier and faster imo.   2. Right click on an existing component > use "Duplicate and Move" option > new Mask is created with that duplicated component.    "Move" component to create new Mask.   1. Drag and drop an existing component outside its current Mask to create new Mask...again no need to drag it all the way up to the + icon.   2. Right click on existing Component > use "Move to new Mask" option.   These would allow us to "Move" or "Duplicate an

We should be able to select multiple Masks and/or Components simultaneously.   This would allow us to moving multiple Components to another Mask, deleting multiple Masks, etc...

When cleaning up a Subject mask I'm finding that I need two sub-masks 1) Add Brush 2) Subtract Brush.   What I'm running into is the need to figure out which of the 3 masks is contributing to the mask as they are all "red". Sure you can show/hide each mask but I want a quick way to see which mask I should be using to make the needed refinements.   You start to realise this when the brush changes you are making don't seem to be working.   A quick method to visually identify masks would help here. My first thought is a mode to quickly reveal different coloured mask layers and where they overlap.   For instance, I had an add and subtract overlapping a subject mask. The active mask wasn't the correct one to be editing, so the changes were not modifying the ruby lith mask. You then have to work through a show/hide process to figure out which one needs to be modified.    

Can we please have an option to disable the notification that comes up with every action made in DEVELOP mode? (see screenshot).  Often times this notification is placed directly over an area that I am working on.  Or if not able to disable it, can we have the option to reposition or resize it?  I think many users would be appreciative of this feature.  Thanks  

I often find myself leveraging 2-3 presets from my list as a base, then making slight adjustments here and there. As I'm going through my workflow, I'll edit one image in color, move to another and do it in b&w, and then find another image that I want to have the exact same settings from the first image, but have to click over to that image, copy, and then click back into the other image and paste.    My idea or suggestion is to have some type of "quick adjusted preset" buttons.    Here's what I think it could look like:   In the gray box where you can choose 'Soft Proofing'... put a set of buttons there (maybe make it customizeable to how many buttons). For example, 4 small squares that the icon is a thumbnail of an image you sent there because you liked it's look and knew it would be used later (this could be drag and drop of the photo from the film strip or a key-combo to send it to that button). Wouldn't it be amazing if there were an option to have HSL values insted of RBG under the histogram, when doing a mouse over the image in Develop Mode?   As a red/green color blind photographer this would be a brilliant option to nail skintones, among other things.   It is a pretty time consuming to import photos to Photoshop every time to check the hue on peoples faces, when skintones are crucial.   Also it would be a fast way to check the luminance on specific areas.   Hope to hear from someone from Adobe 🙂   All the best Uffe

I would love the ability to enlarge the information being presented in the histogram. This is so useful for balancing skin tones, etc! 

If you are fixing sensor spots, the default round region for healing works fine.   However, if you are trying to remove something bigger you start filling out a larger region.   There is the chance, especically if using a mouse, that you make a mistake defining the region.   There is currently no editing mode that allows slight modification of the region and the correction updated.   A good example is Exit signs in darkened theatres. You think you have defined the region for removal but what you haven't seen is the subtle glow a little outside the region. So you end up having to define the region again - this time a little bigger. All I wanted to do is add to my healing selection region (or remove some).  this might suggest and expansion feature that maintains the overall shape by scales it up a little, post mouse up.   So Healing could benefit from the add/subtract feature found in the masking tools to make adjustments to the region selection.

Hello,I'm using Auto Import on Adobe Lightroom Classic.When a photo is imported, it is automatically selected. Even though I'm processing the previous photo, which cuts me off in my work on the photo. Is it possible to configure automatic import so that the treatment photo selection does not change automatically on the last imported photo? Thank you for your help   PS: I use Adobe Lightroom Classic 11.3.1 and macOS 12.3.1

Request for change   Add the capability to hold down the Option/Alt key when moving sliders in the mask editing panel, such as Whites, Blacks, Shadows.Highlights, etc , to see the selection masked, as is available in the Basic panel.   /update/ the word Visualization applies       (note, could not find existing Idea, I assume their is one)

The Edit icon above the Basic panel in Develop Module is seriously spoiling my day!!!! Anyone else finding they're constantly clicking on it instead of the crop tool? Haha!   MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!!   Love and peace   Phil x    

Request for change Now that LrC has the Content Aware Erase ability, and the Object Mask ability, please add a button in the Object Mask panel to erase the content within the mask using content aware erase. Similar to PS. The mask created would very likely be better than the selection made thru the current Content Aware Erase tool.   Button to add: Instead of: 

Absolutely love the new subject and sky selection tool in Lightroom! However this can be SOO much more!! As a portrait photographer I constantly have to mask peoples skin and teeth. I would love to have Lightroom automatically detect teeth and whiten them, or skin have the skin masked and smoothed out! Would make my job 100x easier! 

Please add the ability to select more than one user preset in the Presets Panel.  It takes far too long to do some things without this.  (I recently had some issues in importing presets when setting up Lightroom Classic version 11.1 on a new Windows laptop, and it was very laborious to have to delete them one by one after some issues with the importing process - which is a whole other story that I won't bore people with.)  Or if there's a way to do this already, please let me know.

Ok. Treat as not a bug, apparently as designed, so treat as an Idea, a request for change. 

I frequently jump around in Library or Development mode to see other pictures, compare, see what I have done, copy their settings etc. It would be awesome if Lightroom kept an "image view/edit history" that I could navigate like one does in a browser: By clicking the forward/backward buttons most modern mice come with, or with the keyboard by pressing Alt+left/right.

My workflow would speed up if there would be a way to select a bunch of photos and have them all select the same subject in the photos and make a Content-Aware Fill / Spot Removal for all of them (a.k.a. Sync).   What I typically do for a corporate portrait session backgrounds is looking for a white wall — white as a plain and empty wall painted with light colors — as not requiring to carry and setup background stands and background canvases.   But, often times finding a wide enough clean wall is difficult as there's light switches, marks on the wall and such distractions just creeping in to the photo — especially if I'm trying to frame people loosely to have some empty background space for ready to use text-on-photo layouts (for quotes and such). And I'm shooting hand-held so the framing is slighty different in each photo and can't just do Select All and paint the same Spot Removal for all (and Spot Removal is not good if the distraction in the picture hits the borders of th

I'm a left-hander, and I find that using a Wacom tablet with Lightroom is incredibly cumbersome at times. This is due to the fact that all of the develop panels are on the right side of the screen, and accessing them with my pen means crossing my arm all the way across my body to the right so that the pen can access the sliders on the right panel. My idea is to add a "left-handed mode" that would simply swap the location of the left/right panels, making it easier to access the develop (and other currently-right-sided) panels when using a pen tablet.

Bonjour à tous,   Je me sert des collections et les synchronise avec lightroom afin de pouvoir les partager avec mes clients et qu'ils réalisent leur selection finale.   Il manque la possibilité de voir les photos "likées" en mode grille et oblige à passer en revue la collection en plein écran image par image.   Serait ce possible d'implémenter cette fonction ?   Si quelqu'un à une suggestion, je suis preneur.   Pour le moment j'ai du modifier mon workflow et passer par pixieset pour réaliser cette opération.   Merci

Right now when you export metadata you can include ALL metadata with the exported images or leave some things out but on a very basic level. It would be much more useful to select exactly which fields you want to stay and which don't of all the possible IPTC metadata . Just create an Export IPTC preference (caption, keywords, copyright and city for example) and ONLY this is exported while all other fields are left blank.   Right now this level of micro control is not possible and should be quite easy to implement and make the software much more useful in this regards and not have to resort to other programs that have this function.

It'd be great if you could set a custom range for the sliders in the Basic panel that are more akin to the ranges you'd be using specifically, and therefore allow finer adjustment with the mouse when dragging them.   For example, in the Tint slider, for all my photos I usually only drag the slider in the range of -15 to +40, however the range given is -150 to +150, and not only is so much of that never used, it makes it difficult to precisely hit certain numbers (and impossible in a lot of instances without typing it in), BUT if there was a smaller range to choose from, I could keep the slider size the same yet gain the accuracy that expanding the panel massively gives. This again applies to things like exposure where my generic range is -1 to +3, while never using anything outside of these values.   There may be some inbuilt thing here with how raw files work and that specific range is linked to raw parameters.. But still, to allow a custom range that you could say toggle a

*LR Classic - 11.5, up to date (build number cannot be copied/pasted from about screen). *PC, Windows 11, also up to date. I accidentally downloaded the photos from my Canon camera with the wrong sort setting resulting in the numbers being reversed (decreasing with increasing shooting date/time instead of increasing). I tried to fix this in LightRoom using the Rename Photo command - but this only made things worse (until I figured out the quirks below). #1. First, I found out the hard way that I accidentally left a filter on (flagged and unflagged) so the images flagged as rejected were not renamed. My bad ... But what is worse, photos in a STACK (below the top image) also were not renamed!!
