If LoadVars.sendAndLoad is used from within application.onAppStart and if LoadOnStartup is true in Application.xml, then the application will crash when the server is restarted, and won't load up. It appears that onAppStart isn't the best place to put startup code, since the FMS server isn't completely initialized at that point? This requires fixing.Workaround: used setInterval() to execute a function 2 seconds after onAppStart and put my initialization stuff in there (the init stuff requires sendAndLoad because it calls an API on a web server that does some database initialization).Bug tested on FMIS 3.5.2
hican anyone explaine what is "server side playlist", because i must implement an internet tv and in a adobe document i read that it is possible with server side playlists.thanks a lot.

Hello Readers,I am having some trouble.Plot: There is a place, XYZ from where we have to stream 5 different Video feeds. However, at the Client end, only one video has to be seen.I cannot let all the 5 streams to be run from the place XYZ considering Bandwidth constraints. Is there any way wherein programatically one can switch streams from XYZ so that only one stream is active at a time and Client can see that feed. Please Help. Thanks
Dear flock , thank you very much to for your time to read my post.Honestly I am beginner to this FMS word , I do now something about flash ( flash 5 ooooh it is to old ) Cos I decide to go to server side administrating , now I am a Linux server Administrator , some clients asked me about hosting FMS , and I can not say “NO” .Any I don’t have any actionscript knowledge , or flex . but I am a php programmer so I can under stand the logic. honestly I did read the PDFs that adobe provides, it is a very long way . so many information while you need just a small things. So I decide to ask adobe flock. my problem : well I have some problem I will sort each one so you may help me to solve these problems 1- I note that ay one how know the URL of the rtmp can open a stream to my server with no problem and he can link any flash player to the url , and take advantage of this service. eg : if you open the FMLE(the encoder) and put the URL rtmp://111.111.111.111/live/yourname_or_any_thing
Hello Readers,I wanted to know if there is any facility to use Software Switchers along with FMISThe Situation: I am streaming multiple streams using FMLE from one place and at the receivers end, the client receives only of the streams at a time.So I wanted to apply switcher so as, I could stream only one stream from FMLE at one timeI have explained the scenario in the attached image.
I'm currently running Flash Media Server 3 on a Windows 2003 Server machine with a Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.0GHz processor and 8GB of ram. On average, the site is streaming between 250 and 415 concurrent FLV streams at any given time (according to the FMS Admin Console). The site itself averages about 1.6M pageviews per month. The problem that I'm seeing is that at times, regardless of the traffic load, the videos will take a very long time to initially load and start up and then buffer quite a bit and be very slow to seek within the timeline. We use the the JW FLV Media Player ( http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Player) but I don't think it has anything to do with the player itself. Are there any performance tweaks and/or settings or anything else you can think of to improve the serving of the FLV files via FMS? I monitor the server's performance all the time and it never appears to be under much stress. On average the FMSCore.exe process consumes 737MB of ram and 2% of the

Hi all,Might be a dumb question but a client has Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2 R2 and I was wondering if Flash Media Interactive Server will install and run fine on it?The requirements on the site say Microsoft® Windows Server® 2003 with Service Pack 2 but no about "Standard" or "Enterprise".Thanks for your help!Ryan
How much time, approximately, does it take for FMIS purchasing and putting it up to use? Thanks
Hello there community!I'm quite new to these forums, but spent a good deal of time reading and searching just now, just don't really know where to begin.Allright, so i'm searching for information on how to write plugins for FMLE 3.0, the reason is that i need to extend some functionality regarding the metadata injections. So, does anyone here know of an API/Framework/SDK like paper that is a good place to start reading?Any input will be welcome, except "nay sayers" because i know it's possible to make plugins, ive seen one or two out there, just dont know where to start.PS.I have plenty experience in writing DLL's for windows applications, but i would rather refrain from reverse-engineering FMLE to use windows hooks and insert dll's at run/loadtime, would rather have a more or less "intentional" framework to work with.
I want to create a video chat application between 2 people and I want to record the dialouge between the two people to one audio file, so both of then can play back the dialouge at a later time. Can you give me guidance on how to approach this?
Flash Interactive Media Server seems to be an amazing product, but is it all just hype?I see plenty of tutorials and scenarios on how to grab the video from a flash player and stream it.But would I would like to see are content management systems that tie into fms.Does anyone have any suggestions or samples of doing such a thing?Thank you for your time,
Someone please redirect me if I'm posting to the wrong forum.. but I'm using Encoder 2.5 and when I stream one of my events involving groups of women singing and dancing in very flashy outfits (lots of sequins, etc) the video portion of the stream becomes quite choppy.. this smooths out when they go still or have slow movement. Does this sound like a hardware issue (using Osprey cards) or FMS setting? Help????
I have a friend who wishes to use F4V and Flash Media Server for his content but has over 500 files already encoded using H.264/AAC in an mp4 container. Does Adobe or anyone else offer tools to remux the MP4 files into F4V files so they do not have to re-encode from the original sources? If not, this would seem like a smart way to get better adoption of the F4V format.Thanks.
Hi,I am very proficient with Flex and Flash, however I am new to FMS. I have never setup a Media Server, and have never programmed a Flash/Flex Video Streaming Application. However, I have a client who needs to have a password-protected page to view a live stream. My first question is which version of FMS should I use to Stream Live Video? The video will have to be streamed from a Webcam and through the Website to the end-user.Second, is how do I setup FMS. I am not looking for a detailed explanation, I know I can find that in the docs, but I just want an overview. Then how could I stream video from a webcam into a Flash/Flex Application?Again, I am not looking for a detailed explanation but just an overview so I can better understand the process; I am new to FMS as I have mentioned above.Thank you,Jesse

Hi all,I am new to FMS. I apologize if this is ridiculously simple or poorly phrased.I am working on an application which acts as a web TV. It will telecast a live stream and switches to recorded stream on certain point of time. And once the recorded stream gets over it switches to live stream. The switching from live to recorded is done using 'NetConnection.call()' method which will notify the server app to switch the streams. The application works fine with exact point of switch. But every time I switch between recorded stream and live stream the buffer starts accumulating instead of constant time.Hence the recorded stream switching gets delayed after each switch. I have tried 'Stream.flush()' and 'Stream.setBufferTime(0)' to remove the delay. But none of them helped.I am attaching the server side application which does the switching. Client side doesnt have anything apart from 'VideoDisplay' whose source is same as the one published from server app. Other client is used for triggerin

Anyone have some good troubleshooting info for linux installs? The dirrections for linux needs work and there are no troubleshooting info for FMSS on the web.
Medium-load chat server using Shared Objects segfaults every few hours. Runtime size has been increased to 30MB (this saves it from crashing every 10 minutes). I have the core dump but don't understand what it means. Please could someone decipher it. I have attached it as a file to this message.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,We just upgraded our FMIS from 3 to 3.5. All our VOD streams were working prior to the updgrade. Now the streams do not play. When logged in to the admin and checking the Server Log, this is the message. I assume this is correct. I have **** out the address.Thu 12:41:51 PM: Connect : rtmp://*****.*******.com.au/vod/Thu 12:41:51 PM: Connect : rtmp://*****.*******.com.au/vod/Thu 12:41:51 PM: Connect : rtmp://*****.*******.com.au/vod/Is there anything more that I can check to see where this is failing?Regards Bruce
Hello everybody,I'm testing Live streaming with FMSS. The stream is pushed to FMSS buy Adobe FMLE software.Streaming works fine until I reach 1300-1400 simultaneous connections. No matter what the encoding ratebit is (150kbps or 2000kbps) the stream is no longer play from time to time (5-8 seconds). The CPU (2xIntel Quad) is loaded less than 20% and memory used is about 2 GB (there is plenty of memory installed 32G). The OS is RedHat 5.3 64bit platform. Network uplink maximum rate is 4Gbps.I disabled the Queue but the problem still persist. <Queue enabled="false">Any hint will be appreciated.Thank youMarian
