Hello All,I have inherited a custom application on Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0 that broadcasts audio in real time. The custom app is written using Adobe Flash Professional 8 and actionscript 2.0.A little background of how the custom app worksWhen a user connects to the media server to join a stream, our custom application calls out to a seperate application server (that is not Flash) to determine if the user is allowed to connect to a broadcast stream and which stream they should join. We use Xml.sendAndLoad() to do this. The application server we call sends back Xml to the custom App on the Flash Media Server. The problemThis all works great when the external app server is at http but fails if the external app is using SSL. I've read in the documentation that Flash Media Server allows for outgoing communications with other servers to use SSL but I can find no details on how to implement. The questions I have are:1. Can the Flash Media Server talk to a non Flash server via SSL?2.
Hello All,I am working on creating a custom application for FMS 3.0 that calls a webservice to validate the user coming in. I have tested the following sample code from the Server-Side ActionScript Language Ref. (See below) The URL has been changed to protect the innocent. This codes seems to work fine when going to an unsecured site but the innvocation of the service never seems to go out when attempting it over SSL. The Server documentation says that outgoing calls like this should work over SSL. Is this true? If so what do I need to do to get it to work? Thanks for your time,-JohnExample Code:try { var wsdURI = "https://<serverName>/<url>?WSDL"; stockService = new WebService(wsdURI); //Handle failed load of wsdl stockService.onFault = function(fault){ app.logMessage(fault.faultstring); } } catch(e)&nbs
Hey all,I've spent all day on the phone with Adobe trying to purchase single incident support for some server side developement questions on Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0.So far I have not been able to find anyone at Adobe that knows how to do this. The web site says it is possible and they even give a number to call but I've talked to at least three people at that number and no one could help me. I've also talked to people in Sales, Volume license sales, and at least three different areas in technical support and no one seems to know how to get it done. Has anyone ever successfully purchased single incident support for FMS 3 and if so is there some specific number I could call to talk to someone who can make it happen.-John
I am currently connecting to a Web Service (wsdl) with no problems over HTTP. However as soon as I try to connect over HTTPS, my WebSerrvice object queues up the call and sits there forever. What configuration needs to be done in FMS2 to allow outbound WebService calls to be made using SSL?Thank you,Dan

I have an application that I support but did not create. I need to test it on FMSS 3.0 but the developer version has both Streaming and Interactive Server enabled. Is there any way to disable the Interactive Server in the Developer Edition so I can confirm the application works on Streaming Server without influence from Interactive Server? The application works on the development server but when I move it to the production Streaming Server, it does not respond the same.
Hello allPlease forgive me for asking what seems to be a very simple question, however I can't seem to find the answer at the moment...We are looking to build a system where we transcode HD video to H264 and then publish this as a live stream to FMS 3.5 (the interactive version as we would like to use the DVR function on this live stream). We have the transcoding bit up and running already, so that's taken care of.Now what I can't find is what is the best method of streaming the file to the server, what protocol should we use? From what I can see RTMP is the method from server to client, but what is the method from live video to server?Let me know if this doesn't make sense and I'll try and explain the workflow a little better, and please forgive my newbieness! Also, we'd rather not have to use Flash Live Video Encoder in this workflow. Thanks in advance
Hi All,Requirement: I have 2 questions to ask.Q1. I have 2 web servers, 1 FMS server, 1 File Server. Files when uploaded, will be stored in File Server. I need to play the file from client system, please let what configurations shall i make so that the request will be sent tot FMS from Client and From FMS to File Server and back to FMS and then to client as a stream.scenario: I want to play a video. Request will go sent from client to FMS Server, FMS server will fetch the file from File Server and Stream it to the client.Q2. In Flash PLayer, I need to play all types of videos including the videos which will require conversion to .FLV.I have to convert the vedio at the time of upload, Please let me know few conversion APIs which i will use in my system.
I am very interested in using Remoting in order to connect to a Drupal AMFPHP service module. On the client side this is easily done and I have had limited success on the Server side, but a good guide on how to do this properly and be able to get the data being returned would be great.Thanks,ChrisChrisMcIntoshDesigns.com
How to play a FLV file located in a second FMS not directly accessible by the flash client?- I am publishing an audio stream from the flash client to a FMS;- This FMS then publishes the stream to a second FMS, which records the stream to a FLV;How can I play in the client the FLV audio file that I recorded in the second FMS?- The first FMS is accessible by the flash client, but the second FMS is only accessible by the first FMS.thanks in advancefabio
Hi, installed Flash Media Development Server on a Linux/CentOS box and chose port 2222 ( instead of 1111)Now, When I try : http://serverIP:2222/ , remotely from another desktop computer, I get the following error.<level>error</level><code>NetConnection.Connect.Rejected</code><description>Admin user requires valid username and password.</description><timestamp>Tue 23 Jun 2009 09:06:11 PM CDT</timestamp></result>Is http://serverIP:2222/ not the administration web gui console in my case? or what url should i browse, that would provide an web interface, using which i can configure/manage the Flash Media Development Server , over web.** No issue with firewall, i have added the port 2222 for both TCP-IN/OUT **Please advise. Thanks

Hi, I am trying to work out how to set up a schedule of a programme which plays the videos according to the server time at server side.for example, if the time is 3 pm, plays video "tea time", 12pm, plays video "lunch time".At the client side will be simply just able to view the video stream but no interactions.So. I guess I should use live streaming rather than vod, am i right? what shall I do in order to implement this scheduling idea?If I want to provide an interface to change the live schedule, e.g. change the selection of incoming programme, would it be possible to do it?RegardsKen
I have a audio streaming problem, is there anyone that can help me ?If I publish using an Adobe Flash Media Encoder 2.5 or a normal client a netstream with codec NellyMoser at 8Khz, the audio stream is incomprehensible for a MAC OS or a Linux Adobe Player.Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new Actionscript Project in Flex Builder, for example: AdobeBug. 2. Start a Flash Media Server 3.5 in localhost (rtmp://localhost/live). 3. Insert the following code in the Default Application file: AdobeBug.aspackage { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.NetStatusEvent; import flash.media.Microphone; import flash.net.NetConnection; import flash.net.NetStream; public class AdobeBug extends Sprite { public var nc:NetConnection; public var ns:NetStream; public var mic:Microphone; public function AdobeBug() { nc = n
I am newbb to flash. I am developping a mobile app for video chat using FL3. Then I realized that FL3.x only support mp3 streaming for now. So I turn to the server side and found that FMS3.5.1 doesn't support record or live mic audio in mp3. This causes a quite difficult situation. I am wondring if there's a solution/workaround for this? And mostly importantly, I am wondering if recording mic audio in mp3 is ever going to be supported. If anyone can answer this.
I am new on FMSI have FMS 3 running on my dedicated server and streaming a live video transmission ok on rtmp://my.ip/live/livestream through Flash Media EncoderI need to limit number of listeners (max) of this transmission to keep quality and bandwhit of my server but I can't find the option in any xml files. Someone knows how to do this? Thanks!PS. Sorry for my english
Hello - Does anyone know of any low-cost standalone hardware encoders that can stream to FMS? Specifically I have analog video and audio camera output and would like to encode that to stream it to FMS to be served as live video to end-users. For the encoder I do NOT want to have a PC with hardware encoder card or a software encoder (such as Flash Media Encoder) but rather I want to have a low-cost stand-alone encoder. Thank you in advance for any advice or direction you can point me in. ...Jim
Hi, I have ah problem, with using a nas filesystem on FMS03 under windows 2003 R2 standard edt. 32 bit. ( mounted with cifs ) If i change, the "VHOST.APPSDIR" variable to a network drive, i get an error while connecting to the vhost on the server. Like: "[Connect], NetConnection.Connect.Rejected, NetConnection.Connect.Closed" Edgelog : Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ Server.Reject ] : (adaptor3, _defaultVHost_) : Application (applXX) is not defined If i undo the change back to a local directory, everything works. Is it possbile, that the FMS Server have no rights on the File System. FMS Server runs with the system acc. greets Dani
So, I've installed FMS 3.5.1 on my server and I'm able to get the sample files to run wonderfully but, now that I try to use it in the real world, it fails.I have multiple websites that exist on a single Windows 2003 server and have installed FMS in its own directory. So it looks like this:D:\ \FMS351 \WebsiteE:\ \Website2 \Website3When running the videoplayer.html I can view all the sample files and even my own vidoes if I don't include the [servername] but as soon as I supply either the URL or IP address, nothing.I've tried different installations and various other ideas but to no avail.Hopefully someone can at least point me in the right direction. Here is a sample webpage: http://www.sullysuniverse.comThank you,Robert
THE PROBLEM: I am using the NetStream class with FMS to record the audio stream from the client's microphone to the FMS server. So far so good, the stream gets saved to the server as a .flv file. A php script grabs this file via ftp and copies it to the user's file store. What we need now is to either record the stream directly as .mp3 OR convert the recorded .flv to a .mp3 file - and this is where it gets interesting. POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1 (preferred solution), Recording stream directly as .mp3: Please refer to Actionscipt Reference for Flash CS4: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS3LCR/Flash_10.0/ ns.publish("mp3:mymp3stream"); Under class 'NetStream', method 'publish you will see the above. The documentation suggests that it should be possible to directly record the audio stream as a .mp3 file. NOTE: this is with the new version, Flash CS4. I have tried this with both an Influxis account and with FMS 3.5 dev on my local machine. Both return this error: Error #2044: Unhandled NetSta
Is there any param value... or anything else I can use to stop the sound in an .flv file I'm streaming from the server?I do not have the original video that the flv was created with... otherwise this would be a no brainer.I want to keep the video up but take away the sound. Thanks much!
I'm not a Flash developer, so please try to keep answers simple! (Currently looking for developer if anyone wants to contact me.)I'm trying to decide whether, for my particular application, I would be better off delivering video via streaming or progressive download. Here's the situation:Background: this will be a learning drill for learning foreign language phrases. There will be a series of ten short video clips, each one a headshot of a native speaker, saying a single sentence. The background is static so the only thing changing will be facial expressions, so compression should be pretty effective. Each clip will be approximately 4-6 seconds total length. Resolution will be approximately 360 X 270.The way this particular drill works makes me wonder if perhaps progressive downloading might make more sense than streaming. But like I said, I'm not a Flash developer, so I could easily be wrong. (Did I mention we're currently looking for a talented, reliable Flash developer?) So here's h
