At our company we have built a video/chat application with multiple rooms and a lobby using FMS2. The application runs fine in most browsers but when I open another window in ie6 (apart from the window where the flash application plays), visit a different website and close the window where our flash application resides, the stream keeps playing (you can still hear the sound of the application). I was wondering if this is this a known bug. Has anybody experienced this before? Is there a way to prevent this bug? This is a problem which occurs when opening our site in Internet Explorer 6.0 only. Thanks in advance, David
I just added 4 more gig of Ram to our flash server (windows 2003) bringing it up to 6gig. I want to make sure that the flash server is using more of the ram efficiently. I typically only see 2-3 fmscore(s) running using about 1.5 to 2gig of the ram.How do I increase the number of core(s) or have it use more ram per core? Also, is there a performance document for the falsh media server?
An observation about the configuration files (XML) of FMS.When we roll out new versions or upgrades, it almost always involves updating or modifying the files in the conf/ directory. If it's within a certain revision, we generally copy them over from the previous install and it's fine. In the case of FMS 3.5, new configuration directives were added which necessitated our doing a fresh reconfigure to ensure everything was accounted for. What I believe would make for an easier configuration process is to utilize the inheretance aspect of XML, allowing for a LocalSettings.xml file which would be read in by FMS last, overriding any default settings thus eliminating the need to alter the default *.xml files. Any new settings introduced that require changes can be imported as needed.Overwriting the stock conf/*.xml files with new information would not interfere with your custom settings as they would remain intact in LocalSettings.xml. Any conflicts could be reported t
Adobe is, in my opinion, intentionally deceptive on a number of levels about the privacy-invading cookies that Flash stores on your machine. These are NOT the cookies that get deleted when you clear your browser cache. These cookies remain on your machine until you MANUALLY DELETE THEM. And Adobe know that most users are not technically proficient enough to even find where they exist. There is a good site that describes how to get rid of them here:http://www.ghacks.net/2008/07/30/delete-flash-cookies/The Flash cookies:Stay on your computer for an unlimited amount of timeStore 100 kb of data by default, with an unlimited maxCan’t be deleted by your browserSend previous visit information and history, by default, without your permissionThis type of cookie exists on 98% of global computers, across all operating systems. it’s the Adobe Flash Player. The news about these cookies needs to be spread far and wide.Furthermore, the lame website that Adobe provides seems intentionally designed to ma
Could anyone please tell me how I can use ip/network camera with Flash Media Server.I am not able to configure it.Is there any other way of configuring such cameras ?I want to publish live stream data captured by ip camera on Flash Media Server.
Is it possible to allocate multiple media locations to a single VOD application? I’m about to exceed the 2TB volume limitation of my SAN, yet the quantity of content that needs to be available for a given clients FMS application exceeds that. Thoughts??

I have the FMS working with .flv files but I can't seem to get .mp4 or any other format file to play using it?
Hi,I've read in many, many places that FMS 3 support streaming video to Flash Lite 3. What about streaming audio. If so, then can you point me in the right direction? Thanks,Bruce
Hi,We just moved FMS onto a new server and the fms seems to be working fine. But when I go to load a flv in flash using the component inspector i type in the content path for where the flv is located on the fms server and it just keeps saying 'Failed to load flv'. If i type the content path for the location on the old server it loads up fine. I honestly dont know what the problem is as everything is the same as it was on the old server just a different server with different IP address. Does anyone know what is going here?thanks
Hi, I have buffer of video and want to pass it to server and then republish it to the client and display that as live video. Please Help.Thanx in advance.
Hi Everyone, 1. The basic problem I would like to solve is detecting when a connection to the Flash Media Server fails. Our client-side application establishes a persistent NetConnection and publishes a number of video/audio streams to the FMS. After publishing some videos, some clients find that recording no longer works. I need to add code to let them know that there's a connection problem. I've studied the NetConnection class and can't find an built-in method that can help alert the user if the connection is broken. 2. Also, I'm having trouble tracking these events in the FMS logs. Are there any key statements I should look for that would tell me if the FMS has experienced a sudden loss of connectivity with a client? I was thinking of using the onAppShutdown (?) event to detect when an application closes normally, so I can then get an idea of when it's closed down in other circumstances. Sorry if this isn't the right forum, as this does involve our ActionScript and FMS - I was
Hello,I am experiencing some failures with FMS 3.5.1.Searched the logs and it appears the following error repeats itself more than 20 times per second in the admin logs:Failed to wait for process condition: errno(22).Can anyone offer some info on this error ?Thanks
Hi, for some reason, my Flashmedia3_5_Int_Strm_ALP, after each 24h starts eating my cpu, and my server load rises from 0.10 to 3.50.All I could find in fms logs is:2009-05-06 12:40:17 15224 (e)2581395 Failed to signal process condition: errno(43). -2009-05-06 12:44:22 4417 (i)2581247 Core (4417) disconnected from edge. -2009-05-06 12:45:18 15224 (e)2581395 Failed to signal process condition: errno(22). -Couldn't find anything out there. Any good soul can help me at least to understand these error messages.I'm using Debian Linux 4.0Thanks
Hi,I am using FMS 3.5 and Flash CS3 (though using action script 2 at the mo)What I have is a simple program that records a webcam and saves the result as an FLV. - Note, I am doing all this locally, NOT over the internet or a local server. FMS is on the same PC as the program.OK, all works pretty much ok, apart from 2 things....1) The frames per second does not seem to be fixing to 25fps, but instead seems to be around 15fps depending upon which pc I use. I'm using: cam.setMode( 320, 240, 25 ); to set the size and frame rate in flash.2) When I get the properties for the resulting flv, it says it is using h.263 codec. Is there a way to change the codec that is used (to say h.264)? Or is this dependent on the version of flash used? ie. would creating it in flash 9 using AS3 give a better quality result? Thanks for any help - I'm pretty new at all this so bear with me!Tim
We are running FMS 3.01 r123 and we aren't sure which update/patch weare supposed to apply.Would it be 3.5.4 or 3.0.4?How am I supposed to know this (for future reference)? What is thedifference?
Good afternoon,Were in the process of upgrading the FMS server licence to a FMIS licence. My question is that when we upgrade will we lose any of the functionality of FMS3.0 that is not present in FMIS.The FMS is currently used for direct streaming. Thanks in advanceThomasQwise
I have a video on the developer edition of FMS 3.5 that is quite large. The total time is ~19,000 seconds. Seeking to points prior to 2433.482 seconds work fine using VideoDisplay.playheadTime. However if I try to set the playheadTime to any number over 2433.482 seconds, the video state is as follows:Video state: seekingVideo state: pausedVideo state: bufferingVideo state: playingand the video never reaches the point. it just stops at 2433.482I have messed with this for days. I'm pretty sure it's not the flex application. I looked through the conf file on the server but I couldn't find any variable that would be restricting it. please help!!
My Full Screen feature on my Flash Video component is acting a bit odd...When I go to full screen, the screen just shows an enlarged version of only the top left corner of the program, adding a big band of black to the top.Does anyone know how to get Full Screen to display properly so that the program is centered on the page with the whole video visible?See example images attached. Thanks
Coding world....im losing my wits .....does anybody have a clue or experienced the same problem as I'm having or know how to solve. I am streaming audio live from my server and it keeps going in and out every so often almost like a buffer issue. I cant seem to find any documentation as to why this keeps occuring and i'm pretty certain my flash code has nothing to do with it but i cant seem to find any other server explanation. Im using a fast DSL connection so I seriously doubt its that so i'm at wits end.Does anybody know what could potentially be the problem with connection or is that just a side effect of using FMS or if there's anything I can do to minimize the skipping during live continuous audio stream.........i'm at the edge of the cliff.....ready to jump
OK I've spent several days searching online for an answer to this question and I'm at my wit's end. Please help me out. This is what is going on.I'm using flash to design a basic website. Within that website I want to place a .flv file. Everything works fine in preview mode and test movie mode. The problem comes when I puplish to the web. I'm just using flash to publish which puts all the files in a folder. IN previous attempts, once I load those files onto a server it does not play the .flv file. The .sfw skin will show up but the general .sfw file for the project doesn't seem to be finding the .flv file. And yes, I'm uploading the .flv file to the server. Is there something wrong with the html code that it can't find the .flv file? I can replicate this problem on my desktop by moving the .flv file out of it's project folder. Once I do that and then click the .html file the page will load but it won't find the video fil
Please help me, While recording the flv is saved inside applications/stream/samples/audio.flv. But it is not working properly.Mycodestop(); var count:Number = 0; var timestamp:Date = new Date(); var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/audiotest/samples"); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); ns.setBufferTime(2); var mic:Microphone = Microphone.get(); mic.setRate(22); ns.attachAudio(mic); &n

Hey, I am hoping someone can offer me advice/guidance on the following: I have a flash media server and a webserver at a different location. I have multiple locations that are stored in my webservers database from which I want to have live video streams coming from. What I want is those live streams to come into the server and I want to provide both live streams and also the ability to save pieces of those video into a private account on the webserver. So essentially live streaming including VOD where the VOD is based on time. This is a sporting event system so people need to be able to save their game from say 7:00 to 9:00 as well as watch the live stream when it is occuring. It would be nice to have dynamic streaming and minimum bandwidth costs. Any advice on implementation, things I should be aware of, or any help at all would be much appreciated! Thanks,John
Is it possible to implement a live dvr player that you could record video for say a day, then on the client return to a certain time?
