Hi, I'm currently running FMS3 on RedHat Linux and it's working fine for VOD files. I'm trying to figure out how to do live streaming with this and am confused. I know that if I was running Windows, I could just use Flash Media Encoder, but I'm not. Has anyone had any experience with this? I know that I would obviously need a capture card but then what other software is needed to make FMS3 aware of this live stream? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, i've a little problem,my fms stream file with rmtp protocol. I would using http protocol example: http://ip/file.flv Can i do,where the setting to change? Thank's a lot
Hi, i would like to find out if the flash plugin use the browser proxy settings if any configured? thanks, Sunil
Does anyone know of a resizeable player that I can enter an RTMP address into and see the resulting stream? The live sample player that comes with FMS3 is almost exactly what I am looking for, a very simple player where I can enter the address of the stream, however it won't let me resize the video, it only shows me what % of the original video size it is displaying.
How to?
The documentation for multipoint publishing says you need to use Flash Media Interactive Server. Can you get away with a single version of the Interactive server and have it broadcast to multiple Flash Media Streaming Servers? We're looking to set up 3 servers in a load balanced environment. Since the licensing cost for Interactive server is $4500 and Streaming server is just $995, I was going to try to save $7k. We don't really have much need for the extra features that Interactive server offers other than mutlipoint publishing. http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flashmediaserver/3.0/hpdocs/help.html?content=00000095.html http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/compare/ Thanks.
I have one origin server A and two edge servers B and C , clients are random connect to the edge servers B or C . the document said between origin server and edge server only have one connection! but when the first client connect to edge B , I see the fms_adminConsole.swf ,the number of clients in origin server A is 2 , then when the second client connect to edge C ,the number of clients in server A is 4 ,Why is this ? is this a normal state ?

Hi, I am using FMS3 developer edition When I load components.asc on a server side, onPublish event is not firing, When I comment out (disable) loading components.asc onPublish event is firing attached sample main.asc file -------------------------------------------- load("components.asc"); load("netservices.asc"); //------------ application.onAppStart = function() { //Object to hold a direct reference to connected clients this.userHandler = new Object(); }; application.onConnect = function(client, email) { //register user to framework //gFrameworkFC.getClientGlobals(client).username = email; // Accept the new client's connection this.acceptConnection(client, email); }; application.onConnectAccept = function(client, email) { trace("connection accepted") }; application.onDisconnect = function(oldClient) { trace("disconnected") }; // Called when the client publishes application.onPublish = function(client, myStream) { trace(myStream.name + " is publishing into applic
I want to set up a server side stream, and then play a list of flv files over that stream like a tv channel I jave Flash Media Interective Server. I use to do this with WINDOWS MEDIA SERVER but with the FMS3 I haven't been able to do this please I need help. I will pay through paypal.
Hi, Can any one of you provide me with details on how much is latency experienced when live video and audio is streamed using FME + FMS + FP. Ex: A 256 kbps streaming. Does FME , FMS and FP uses buffering concept? if so, how can that be tweaked to deliver the live video with reduced latency. Is it possible to achieve a latency of less or equal to 1 second and how. We are using Web Cam, Windows Media Server, Windows Media Encoder and Windows Media Player to achieve the live streaming of events. But we end up having a latency of 8 to 15 seconds (in LAN). This is the major challenge we are facing. We are trying to find out if FME, FMS and FP can overcome the issues being faced. TIA, Mohith
Hi everyone, I'm looking at the licensing for FMIS 3, and I see this clause: 2.8.4. Prohibited Use. Except as expressly authorized under this Agreement, Licensee is prohibited from: (a) using the Software on behalf of third parties; (b) renting, leasing, lending or granting other rights in the Software including rights on a membership, subscription or hosted basis; (c) providing use of the Software in a third party outsourcing facility or service, service bureau arrangement, or time sharing basis; (d) allowing any person who is not an Authorized User from using the Software; and (e) bundling or integrating the Software with other products and services. Notwithstanding the foregoing, with respect to the Interactive Server and Streaming Server only, Licensee is permitted to host the Software for use by persons other than Authorized Users. Does this mean that I am not allowed to develop apps for my clients and host them on my server? Do I have to get each of them their own servers? Doe
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has experience in recording one video using several different cameras as it's source. I'll have say five PCs, each with a camera, on the same network as the FMS and want remote users over the net to be able to choose the source, like a video producer would choose which angle shot to use. Multiple people would be recording videos at the same time from these sources. What do you all think? Can this be done? Thanks a bunch for any advice you can offer. - Evan
I just wanted to post a site I have been working on. It uses Flash Media Server and the Flash Player to allow users to control a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) more commonly used for commercial exploratory underwater operations. The ROV is in a 100,000 litre (roughly 26,000 US gallon) tank at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth England. The video stream is as live as possible so your experience may deteriorate the further you are from the UK. http://www.fosters.co.uk/scuba/ Hope you like it. Mark
I want to install and setup “Flash Media Server” on server A and have it stream videos to server B. I have downloaded the Flash Media Server from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediastreaming but i am in a fix on what do next to achieve my goal. Any guidance or tutorial will be of great help.
Hi all, I hope this is not a basic question - I'm in a bit of a loop with this. I need to do two things: grab a live video feed from a professional DV camera - the feed would be a standard BNC (composite) video cable + XLR mic cable or similar. I need to take that feed and somehow convert it to feed and broadcast live through Flash Interactive Streaming server (...a reliable hardware solution would be great!) I will also be receiving Windows Media MMS feeds from our parent company - can I re-encode live and send through Flash Streaming Server in real-time? Also - just in case it makes a difference, the camera is PAL - not NTSC. So far I've had no problem running tests with a camera connected directly via firewire. Thank you for any help you can offer.
I am Capturing Video using Web Cam. And currently its saved on the same server. So, is it possible to save this on some CDN server, directly.?
Hi there, we have installed a fms3-server and all works well. Now we want to parse the access.log into a readable XML-File. Is that possible? Many thanks! Tobi
Hi I want to build or outsource a webcam component for my asp.net application. I intend to do this using flash and flash media server. Requirement: The purpose is to interview candidates. The candidate will be interviewed via webcam with vioce. This interview has to be recorded as a file on the server for future playback and review. Questions 1) Is it possible to communicate between flash streaming server and iis since the registered users will be using the application? 2) I have some knowledge of flash but not action script. In your opinion, how easy or difficult it will be for me to build this solution myself? 3) If I plan to outsource this to someone with good knowledge of flash, action script and fms, how much effort does he require. i.e approx how many hours work. I want to know this because I can get an idea of what to pay him. 4) Any links that would help me with the above issues will be welcome.
Hi, This may have been answered on here already and If it was I apologize. Can FMS 3 be installed on another forum of a Linux OS like Cent 4.5 or 5.0, Fedora, or FreeBSD? Thanks, Andy
I have been using an online flash media server hosting service for providing on demand streaming video (FLV). For what I am paying the hosting company, I believe I can come out cheaper by setting up my own web server running the Flash Media Server 3 software. I maintain two sites for arts organizations that use a lot of streaming video although the traffic to the sites is relatively low volume as compared to a busy ecommerce site. What hardware and software will I need in addition to the Flash Media Server 3 software? Entry level web server? Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Standard or Web Edition?) Suggestions and recommendations are welcome. Thanks Joe
Hello Everyone! I have created a video and sound recorder in flash. I want to add a new feature wherein when the record button is clicked, a background music will play. I was successful in playing the background music but I can't seem to attach it on my netstream or I can't seem to combine the background music together with the recorded video and sound captured by the microphone. Can anybody help me? Have a nice day everyone!
Hi all, I'm trying to build a radio stream player for my site and I'm having some issues, here's my actionscript and the error. Any help please? rtmp://fcs_server_name/app_name/instance_name So I'm getting a connection, but then I'm getting a weird error: ///////////////// OUTPUT //////////////////////// > nc status > NetConnection.Connect.Success The connection code is: NetConnection.Connect.Success > ns status > NetStream.Play.Failed >> Invalid tincan object name (stream ID: 1). /////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Code: nc = new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus = function(oInfo:Object):Void { trace("> nc status > " + oInfo.code); trace("The connection code is: " + oInfo.code); }; nc.connect("rtmp://fcs_server_name/app_name/instance_name"); // create a stream with which the MP3 files ns = new NetStream(nc); ns.onStatus = function(oInfo:Object):Void { trace("> ns status > " + oInfo.code); trace(">> " + oInfo.description)
Here's my problem... After weeks of trying to get FME and FMS to work correctly, I finally got everything talking to each other once I installed FMS on a different server than FME and Apache, it now works great. What I doing is capturing our stations live feed from an ATI PCIE TV-Tuner, Encoding it with FME which is feeding it to a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server running FMS Ineteractive, then feed to an Apache server on the same machine the FME is running from. After 2-3 hours of encoding it falls out of sync, the longer it encodes the more if falls out of sync. How can I resolve this problem? And one last thing... I'm using a modified version of the " LIVE" example application. The Encoding Machines Specs are: Windows Vista Enterprise AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core 8 gigs Memory The FMS Specs are Pentium HT 3.8ghz 6 gigs memory, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise
Hello, My internet group and I have been trying to get the bugs worked out of our system so our Flash Media Server (version 2.0) will work correctly. The latest issue under our load test was choppy video and audio. The load test was to see if our network and hardware could handle 15 concurrent connections and of course something caused the test to fail. Our network and server engineers say their stuff all checked out only used 20% of network bandwidth at the most. The server barely hit 5% CPU usage. It has been suggested a few different times to incorporate a buffer. I don't really want to do this, because it seems to be a patch on a problem somewhere. Plus, I also read that buffers in streaming video are somewhat irrelevant because as soon as the user seeks forward or backward the buffer is dumped, which would put me right back in the boat with choppy video again until the server is able to establish another buffer while streaming the video. Here is some info on the video we used fo
