Around 25% of my Lightroom sessions in Windows 10 end with Lightroom completely freezing my entire computer. Hard freeze -- no error message, no way to recover the Windows session, nothing. I must force a reboot of the system. This often happens while optimizing the catalog or while backing the catalog up. It may also happen while syncing via the Lightroom cloud services. So far, it does not seem to result in loss or corruption of data. Lightroom, has actually completed the task (optimization or backup) and then fails to close or end that specific routine. It has got to the point where I must back-up my entire system before launching a Lightroom session, because I must assume that Lightroom will hang everything. This is an absurd problem. I have no way of knowing what kind of damage Adobe is doing in the background to my system. It has been clear for years that Lightroom is an atrociously badly written program. It makes terrible use of system resources, and its functionality is clunky at best. And, Adobe, the competition knows that you pulling an Apple — capitalizing on a loyal user base. Your edge is eroding away.
