Thank you for this tip. I could not figure out why I could not get the save as legacy to work, but I have been using the old keyboard command and that results in "save copy". Same keyboard command, similar, but not identical function … not intuitive at all.

Hello Barb. Thank you for your reply. I’m sorry, yes I am on a Mac. And yes, I am talking about moving my preferences from one computer to another. I had little confidence in your suggestion to be honest, because I’ve already done something similar by copying the whole en_US folder /Users/on/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 16.0/en_US And that did not work. Hello. Thank you for your reply. No, this does not do anything for me unfortunately. (I am installing fresh, so there's no previous presets and settings I guess. I was hoping it would sync automatically from the Creative Cloud, but that has not happened.)

As time passes there's been several methods for migrating from one old version to another new one and keep all customizations. None of them have ever just worked good for me. Every time it's a hassle. Now in 2022 the method for syncing should be "the previous settings and preferences are automatically synced in new installation" Several hour later, "automatically" doesn't work great either. I've done a clean install (erased all traces of Adobe) and installed anew. Same thing: all of my custom settings and preferences are lost. No workspaces (found non-Adobe workaroud for that) No custom keyboard shortcuts I've checked on "registrered devices" on adobe.com and the list does not show my home computer, so it seems there's some disconnect of some kind. Anyone got any idea what I can do to get my keyboard shortcuts working? I've tried all the previous tricks with copy/pasting text into the file, copying the file, copying the folders etc. Thanks.

Only PNG. I can work around like this: InDesign—> pdf—> Photoshop—> PNG But I belive it should be possible to achive with only InDesign.

I've found no correlation between type of pictures and succsessfully export or not. Sometimes the pictures are in .psd-format, yes. Display performance is not set to high quality. I almost always use the normal setting. But should this affect anything? That sounds strange. I guess stranger things have happened. I´ll give it a try, thanks.

Hey. No, I just want to make a design containing different placed images (and text etc) and export the whole page as a transparent PNG. And the placed pictures appears as placeholders. Did that clarify?

Sometimes when I export PNG with transparent background from InDesign all is ok, but sometimes the pictures shows up as «placeholders». Some documents work, some don’t and I’m unable to see what’s causing the issue. Anyone got an idea?

So — after hours and hours trying all kind of things. The solution is to update from Mojave to Catalina. And that's just ridiculous! Update the whole system to get one small, simple feature to work.

Hi and thanks. The keyboard command I would like to get working again is command+shift, Go to folder. I've tried reset prefs, and that did nothing in to solve my problem. I've tried running only InDesign, still the same problem. I don't know what's up. Often the «New Document» command, aka Command + N, does not work either. I have to go into the menu and choose «New Document». I don't know if this could be something related? Thank you, all of you, for your efforts. Unfortunaly no cigar. I'll check the link provided. Have a nice one.

Hey. Thanks for your reply. I have two Macs, both with the same problem. Mac Pro 2010 with Metal enabled grapichs and MacBook Pro 2015 Both are running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 and InDesign 2021 16.1 (16.1 is the newest I can update to in Creative Cloud.) I'll give the preferences anc caches a try, but all my previous experiences doing that have left me with my problem still going and without my custom keyboard commands and workspaces.

Hi all.
I´m finding myself more and more needing to duplicate a page inbetween current and next page in InDesign.
I can drag and drop, but is there a keyboard command or other way to do this quickly?
The best I have found is duplicate page (sends page to new last page).
I would like to duplicate and put the duplicated page as next page.

In the latest update, 22.1, I can´t use Application Frame. Application Frame hides all documents and I can't access them any way. Also, the keyboard shortcust stops working. Is this a bug?

So. I’ve been testing. The transparency grid, as is, did not help me. I also use the («normal») grid and that got messy. But by tweaking the transparency grid, it works just great! Thank you.

Yes. Thank you, I get that it's not the intended use, as clearly stated earlier. It actually makes sense the way its intended to work. Still, it worked fine for my use earlier. I'll check out the Transparency Grid. I'm unfamiliar with that so we might be on to something. I'll report back.

I am expecting it to behave like it did at my first encounter with the function: keeping my white objects white and the colored background colored. So I can use the function to view white objects. (if this is the actual intent of Adobe, I don't know, but it's how I've used it previously) System is OSX El Captain and Illustrator is the newest current version, «CC 2017» I think(?). Naming these specs have done very little for me in the past, but your preview-question sounds very interesting. I'll look into that one an report back. Thank you.

At work when I apply the simulated «color paper-function» and sets the color to light grey, I can still use the white color as (visible) white. In other words, the background is light grey and my white elements are white. They´re visible against the light grey background… When i boot up my other computer at home and log into my Adobe account (the same as work) and start Illustrator, the function works differently. Then all white is replaced with the same color as the simulated background color. Now i can´t see my white elements anymore. I know I can work around by using another layer with fill, but that´s not ideal. I´ve tried new documents and I´ve tried opening documents from work on the home computer. Same thing. Strange. Anyone?
