Hey guys,I was wondering if anyone here has been using a RAID0 system for a fast storage solution for media on active projects, and how good is it? I am looking into a 3x4TB RAID0 system. I will also have 12TB in backup storage and 8TB in yearly archive storage.I initially thought of getting a 1TB Samsung 960 PRO but was told that it was overkill, considering the bandwidth required from most camera codecs I will be processing (RED/A7s/C100).My friend recommended I get HGST NAS drives as they have low failure rates and good specs all around. They can sustain 200MB/s read speeds, so a RAID0 theoretically would be close to three times that amount. Not bad at $140 for the 4TB versions. He also mentioned that I should be able to software RAID0 with my Asrock X370 Taichi motherboard, so no need for a separate RAID controller.My other system specs feature a Ryzen 1700x, 32GB 2933Mhz RAM, 1080Ti GPU, 250GB 960 PRO (OS), 250GB 850 EVO (Cache).

I am planning to install more than one CUDA cards to improve rendering ?Does this make sense ?

I have a late 2013 Mac Pro running Adobe PP with two unused thunderbolt ports. The graphics card is a AMD FirePro D500 with two slots supporting the existing two screens. I need to install a third edit screen which will need a breakout box, something like a Blackmagic UltraStudio. Does anyone have any suggestions of the best way to do this? Also does anyone know of an engineer in Southwest London that could support me on a three month edit?

First post here, and looking for some insight. I'm music director for a large Catholic church, but I wear several hats and do all our video production / media / etc. My current Z820 workstation is about 5 years old with a K3000 Quadro card, and really showing it's age.  I work with lots of 4K files (some RAW) from A7S, aerial, etc. So file sizes get big depending on the overall project. My biggest question on this build is the graphics card for use in both Premiere and After Effects. Naturally the Quadro cards are what Adobe quotes as supporting, but those come at a big cost. Is it worth going with one the Quadro's (P4000 or P5000) directly from HP, or should I be looking at one or multiple GTXs installed after ordering the system?Right now the main specs are: Xeon E5-2643 v4: 3.4GHz 6-core64GB 2400 ECC RAM512GB PCIE SSD2x - 256GB SSD2x - 2TB 7200rpm SATA HDLeaving the graphics card as the big question. Any input would be most appreciated....

Hello can any one explain me how to connect my iMac + dell monitor + projector with black magic design ultra studio express

hi people,I use a number of external drives, connected to my 2011 iMac,for video production.  Most are USB2, a couple are Firewire 800,and more recently, a Thunderbolt drive.My write / read speeds for the drives are about like this:USB:  23 / 30FIREWIRE:  70 / 60THUNDERBOLT:  150 / 140these are megabytes per second i believe.I can get by editing HD video, just using the USB2 drives,but obviously, there's some playback issues if I'm using 2 or 3camera shoots in a timeline.I'm thinking of trying out the firewire drives, but someone tole methat firewire can only communicate in one direction, therefore notgood for video work.  is this true?The thunderbolt drive is brand new and I have not yettried it out for video work, but am thinking that it will bethe best, and I can simply use the older drives for archives.thanks for any comments.(I'm using mostly AVCHD & XAVC-S in HD resolution)thanks!

Hi everyone again, my Sons new 1700X Ryzen Editing PC has been built, and my Son will start using it next Monday, using an existing 24" 1080p Dell UltraSharp Screen, and he wants to grab a new 4k or UHD Screen of some sort to use with the new PC, but not sure what to get.After building the new PC, his funds are now limited, so i will buy it for him, as long as it is within a budget of around $1000au ($700us)I have always like Dell Screens myself, so it would be interesting to find out what others think, and should he get a 4k, or a UHD screen.Cheers.

Hi EveryoneSo I have been having issues with Premier Pro, After Effects and Encoder on my new PC . This seems to be a big issues as I see this problem on forums and discussion boards across the internet and while some have fixed it or made it better there is no definitive global fix. It seems to get tossed up to hard drive performance which I am stating is false. I am the sole video producer for a hospitality company and have a very large creative leash in what I can create but am often bottle-necked by frequent crashes, painful loading times, complete computer lock-ups, and various other issues. Just curious how many people jump at these new super components.  They are high on my wish list but I have to justify every dollar these days.

My previous Mac online workstation had an AJA KONA 3 card for playing out HD material to the client monitor.I am now building a PC/Win10 Premiere workstation and thinking do I really need a specialised I/O card just for realtime playback? Is playing out through the NVidia GTX HDMI outputs not enough if all I need is 1080p for the moment?If not then which card plays better in a PC/Windows 10 environment - AJA Kona 4 or Blackmagic Decklink 4K Pro?

Hello,  I am Willing to Purchase a System that Could run all the products of Adobe Creative Clouds That includes Designing, Animation, Motion Graphics , Video Editing and All.. Hi,My new 2017 5K iMac is arriving in a few days and I need help figuring out what external hard drive setup I am going to use. Being fairly new to video, I need help.I will keep my current projects footage on an external drive that connects through iMac's T3 port. Originally was going to go with a x99 mobo platform but learned that they are on their way out. With that I was going to go for the i-7 6900k off of people's recommendations (puget), but now I'm thinking to switch to the x299 platform despite the bad press. I would probably go with the i-9 7900k since it's the proper entry cpu to the system. What kind of laptops with active stylus are people using?  I went to Best Buy to look at a few 2 into 1 laptops and the sales person said that not all touch screen laptops can use an active stylus.  I didn't believe them and went to home to Google my question and apparently there aren't a lot of active stylus answers.  I figured that there was a knock off pen that could support drawing for Illustrator, Animate, and Photoshop, but I can't find anything for it.

Hello,I'm trying different export scenarios for an HD XDCAM EX 1080i (HQ) 25fps sequence.If I use the default PAL DV AVI or OP1a XDCAM EX 35mbps preset with CUDA accelerated MPE(Mercury playback engine) the CPU usage on export is 80%+ and the export is very fast.If I use the default OP1a SD presets with CUDA accelerated MPE the export speed is very slow and CPU usage is below 10%.If I use any other "custom" SD or HD AVI codec setting CPU usage on exports falls below 10% with CUDA accelerated MPE.CPU usage stays at below 75% with software only rendering. Export with software only MPE is a bit slower than with hardware accelerated MPE with default presets.Is there a particular reason for CPU usage to fall with custom settings?Premiere is 2017.1.2Media Encoder is 2017.1.2The system is Lenovo Thinkpad W520CPU: Intel Core i7 2760QMGPU: Quadro 2000MRAM: 8GB[Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum]
