When adding a template twice, the fields are linked

Question

I have created a template and added it to my 'Library Documents'

The template has two fields in it which are due to be 'prefilled' by the person who sends it - i.e. me. It also has a name, date and signature on it for the person I am sending it to - but don't worry about these.

Imagine this is a very simple contract, with me pre-filling in to the template the name of the thing I am selling.

I often want collect signatures from the same person for two seperate items in one send-out.

In this case I add the same template twice from my document library to the 'envelope' and the system it is happy to add them.

The problem:

When I go to pre-fill the fields, both documents are in the system - all good so far.

The problem is that the system links the fields in the two templates together.

So when I fill in "Field 1" on "Template 1" it automatically fills in "Field 1" on "Template 2" as well.

I do not want this.

How do I remove the link between these fields, or set the templates up in way that you can create fields which are always unique please?

Hi Linz,

As you are using the same form twice, the form fields on both the document will be same. As you have mentioned that when you add any information in field 1 on template 1, it gets added automatically on the field 1 on template 2. The reason behind this is that both the form fields have the same name. It is an as designed behviour. If two form fields in a document have the same name, the data added to one will automatically add to the other form field with the same name.

If you wish to add form fields on template 1 only, you will need to change the name of the form fields on tempate 2.

On the preview page in Adobe Sign, click on the form field and click on the pencil icon provided at top of the properties window.
