What happened to preview crop in adobe stock since they added AI Studio? I need to look at the crop in order to decide which images to license!

I design horizontal banners, and I need to see what the images will look like at an 800 x 250 ratio. Suddenly there are all sorts of options I don’t need but preview crop is gone. Is there a way to still access it?

Preview Crop has essentially been removed as a standalone feature since Adobe introduced AI Studio in Adobe Stock. It used to allow quick pre-licensing previews of different aspect ratios (like 16:9, 1:1, custom banner sizes), but it is no longer available in its original form.

Now, Adobe has replaced that workflow with AI Studio tools such as generative edit, expand, and reframe options. These tools are designed more for actively editing and modifying images rather than simply previewing crops before licensing.

As a result, there is currently no direct, fast “preview crop” function in Adobe Stock that lets you instantly see how an image will look in specific formats before licensing it.

For workflows like banner design (e.g., 800×250), the practical alternatives are:

    • using AI Studio’s reframe/expand tools, or
    • downloading the preview image and testing it in external tools like Figma or Photoshop.

In short: the old quick crop preview was not directly carried over into AI Studio and has effectively been replaced by more advanced editing-focused features.

When they replaced that tool they lost important functionality. Generative expand is not a good replacement. They could have kept it!
