Certification completion criteria

I have a certification which contains a quiz created in Captivate.

The quiz is set with 80% pass rate. When I view the quiz as the Learner, the feedback I get is correct - i.e. if I score less than 80% I am told I failed.

The course which contains the quiz has both the completion criteria and the success criteria set to Quiz -> Quiz passed.

When I look at the learners list within the certification, all have the status "Certified". The learner status report also shows all learners as having completed.

When I check the quiz scores, I can see that one of the learners only scored 50% so should not be certified, nor marked as completed.

The quiz is also used in other courses which are set in the same way but if learners don't score enough they are not marked as having completed.

Is this a flaw with Certifications in Prime or do I need to change any settings?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

    Hi @MARZIA5F91 ,

    Check this out.

Adobe Captivate Prime is helping your report on 2 different levels...

    • Did the learner complete the module?
    • Did the learner complete the module with a passing or failing grade?

My assumption is that the person who "passed" with a 50% took a course where you have "launched the course" as the criteria for success.

    1. Open as Author
    2. Go to content library
    3.  Go to your quiz SCORM
    4.  Be sure to set the "completion" and "success" criteria as deisred

Let me know how it goes for you!

    Hi @MrsWandaJeanous

Thank you for your reply. I checked again and the course is set correctly with the completion criteria of Quiz passed.

However, on further investigation I found that the user attempted the quiz 4 times. On the 3rd attempt they scored enough to pass, then on the 4th attempt they only scored 50%.

Is Prime considering them certified on the basis of their 3rd attempt - i.e. best score? If so, why is it showing the last score, rather than the best score?

    Thanks

    Marzia

😃 Hi! That's an intersting question because all of the programming is in the Author's control and can have any number of nuances, such as how many times the learner is given to reattempt a quiz (set at the module level), what completion means (set at the SCORM level), or even what parameters were set in the authoring tool, Captivate.

I think the reporting will show you EVERYTHING, meaning all attempts. You'll need to intepret the end result yourself. I'll also allow others from the Captivate Prime help desk team to weigh in on this question. However, I'll glad you found how that learner passed.
