Adobe Scan deleted ALREADY SAVED file - AGAIN!!
I'm in the same situation as many others have been, seemingly without any resolution or any action on Adobe's part. I was modifying a scan in the app, and as I tried to save, Adobe Scan failed to perform and only flashed an error message "Unable to save file" (or "scan", don't remember the exact wording). I thought I'd lost the modifications, which would have been annoying in itself, but unfortunately I soon realised Adobe Scan had actually deleted the entire file.
I double checked in the Document Cloud, where all my scans are uploaded automatically, and the file really is nowhere to be found. And per Adobe's fantastic policy, there is no folder for deleted files, and apparently any deleted files are permanently gone.
To reiterate: the file had already been saved in the Document Cloud before I reopened it in Adobe Scan. I did not accidentally delete anything myself, the app indeed notified that it was unable to save the scan (which in Adobelese apparently means that the entire file was non-saved aka deleted. Who knew?). I have checked my files both in Adobe Scan and in Adobe Document Cloud, the file is gone.
In other words, the boilerplate 'support solutions' are 100% useless so please don't bother posting them. I also cannot just scan the document again, as it's located in another effin' country.
People have had this same issue at least since 2019, both on Android and iOS. HOW HAS ADOBE NOT ADDRESSED THIS?? This should not be possible under any circumstances!
This is particularly alarming considering the straightjacket environment Adobe insists on creating for its customers: deleted files are gone immediately and permanently, automatic backup to other services like Dropbox is not supported, and scans can only be modified in the incredibly cumbersome and highly unreliable app (seriously, why no desktop version?!)!
WTF, Adobe? Could you even be any more user-hostile??
