Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in response.

When you scan the documents using the Adobe Scan application on your device,  you need to make sure that you save the scan using the option "Save to PDF".

Refer this help document Scanning Documents — Adobe Scan Help for more information on this.

Once you click on "Save to PDF" it takes some time to upload the file to Document Cloud.

Please do not quit the application until the processing ends.

You can check your scanned PDFs in the Document Cloud here https://cloud.acrobat.com/

Open the link and sign-in with the same Adobe ID that you used for Adobe Scan.

Then go to Files > Document Cloud > Adobe Scan folder. There you will find all your scanned PDFs.

If you have not saved the files after scanning or if you have deleted the scanned PDFs, there is no way to recover them.

Let us know if you are experiencing a different issue.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Add my name to the list -- 20+ Adobe Scan files disappeared, along with one I was scanning and editing. Walked away, came back to work on it, and all disappeared. Tried signing out/in in my iPad and MacBook both, followed lots of advice and links in FAQ, and no help. Storage shows the exact size of used memory to that point, which says to me that they're not deleted and are in storage, but "Creative Cloud" will not display them in Files or Folders. "You have no cloud documents" ?? Yeah, right--not!

Hi @Alan26004588af0h,

Sorry for your experience with Adobe Scan.

We would like to have some more information to dig into the issue:

  1. Have you checked the different accounts you might have used with Scan (Sign in with Adobe versus social sign-in)?
  2. Which platform do you experience the issue? Scan Android, Scan iOS, DC web?
  3. Are  all the scanned files missing or only some files?
  4. When did the issue start, any details about any actions taken then?
  5. Scan app build version, device model, OS version.

Please share the above answers so we can speed up the investigation process.

Look forward to hearing from you.

-Souvik.

Hi @Blood22439407h8fy

Did you check if the document is visible on the Document Cloud storage, you check that from https://documentcloud.adobe.com

Make sure you are using the same email to find the document that you have used to save them.

Also, If you could tell us that what steps have you tried so that we can assist you better.

Thanks,

Harsh

Actually, I have scanned a pdf and when I was editing the pages of the pdf it suddenly closed the window and the pdf file remains unsaved. So, why this happened and how to recover it ?

I spent 2 days scanning and trying to edit a 35 page document. I had just finished editing the 24 page and my document disappeared. I saved one of my 35 page scans to see if I could edit it afterward but was unable to edit it. Why is this happening? It is frustrating to have and depend on an app and end up losing your document and time spent. I think I should be compensated for my time by Adobe.

Hi @Shari5EFC ,

Thank you for posting your query here. Could you help me with few details to understand your issue better?

  1. Have you deleted it from your device or from the application?
  2. Application version?

Make sure you sign in with the same email address which you used earlier to save scans. Try all the possible Adobe accounts you have.

Adobe Scan saves the documents as PDF in the Adobe Document Cloud. You may check your saved files over here, Open the link Adobe Document Cloud

  • If you are not uploading the files to Adobe Document Cloud or saving it to any other location, then the files will be deleted permanently.

It is not possible to retrieve the files once deleted directly from the application.

I would suggest you always save a copy of the file to some other location or you can upload the files to Document Cloud.

If the files were saved within the application, they are by default uploaded to Document Cloud.

  1. Open Document Cloud and sign in with your Adobe ID and the password.
  2. Then go to Files > Document Cloud > Adobe Scan folder.
  3. Here you will see the Adobe Scan folder. Please look for your files here.

Otherwise, there's not much we can do to recover those files for you.

Let me know how it works at your end. If you have any further queries please feel free to reach.

Regards

Ria

Hello. I'm extremely upset. I saved a document, gave it a title and the app said it was saved. I came back after and it's no longer there. It was +70 pages scanned. I need your help to retrieve them.
