Has anyone else seen this warning and what have you found to be the cause

After Effects warning: could not find the user documents directory.

I'm not sure if its related to our in house network systems or an Adobe issue.  We're running all the current versions of Adobe CC software.

Correct answer narayans80638168

Turn off the window defender and then open after effect  its works

Hmmm... this isn't working for me.

I started getting this error after I changed my user account on Windows 10.

Any other ideas?

It might be a permissions issue with your new user account.

Easiest solution might be to uninstall and reinstall.

Uninstall and reinstall didn't work (I did try).

What worked for me is, I created a fresh new admin user account called "temp". From that account I removed my renamed account that was causing grief. I also had to delete the c:\user\oldaccountname. Then, I created a new admin account with the name I wanted. Logged in with the newly minted account, and everything worked.

In windows 10 don't turn off windows defender, just turn off Ransomware protection controlled folder access.

I also face this problem and i solve it .

Don't turn off. Your windows defender

Just simply go through "Allow an app through controlled folder access" in Windows defender & then simply click on  +Add an allowed app & select the after Effect application in your root directory

That's done!!!!

Thanks Mylenium but I don't think you read the question completely.

"Has anyone else seen this warning" seems like a question that can be answered without knowing system info or technical details.

I'm assuming you haven't seen this warning in AE.

In case nobody else has seen that issue, the things Mylenium asks for would help us fix your problem anyway. (It would behoove you to help Mylenium help you as he is one of the most technically savvy people here when it comes to AE and its error messages.)

Are you running AE on systems recently upgraded to a newer Mac OS? Permissions issues might be the cause: fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications

Has it worked before? If so, when did it stop working?

When you say "current CC", do you really mean that? A lot of people on these forums have said that, but they were running 12.1 or 12.2 and didn't even know 13.2.0.49 existed because the Creative Cloud software was reporting their AE as up to date.
