How Do You Slow Down Playback Speed

I want to match text to audio as effectively as possibly, but the combination of normal playback speed and catching the wavelengths is not as efficient as just slowing the damn playback speed. How do I do this?

Ps...I am not trying to put my audio in slo-motion, I'm just trying to slow the playback speed.

if you want to reduce the playback speed in the preview only, simply reduce the number of frame rate from the preview window

You can change the playback speed in the preview palette. Other than that this is one of those "You are using a toothbrush to paint your fence." things. You are using the wrong tool. any critical audio timing should be done in premiere or Audition. AE's capabilities in that department simply are too limited.
