Question

VC Element 3d Not working with macOS big sur

Specs

macOS Big Sur 11.3.1

3.8ghz Quad-core Intel Core i5

40gb ram

Radeon Pro 580 8 GB

Since upgrading to Big Sur, Element 3d will not open.

When attempted, I get the spinning beachball of death and the only way out is to force quit AE.

I have tried repeatedly on all available versions of after effects ,

and have downloaded the recent videocopilot patches,

uninstalled , re-installed and still the problem persists.

Anyone else having this issue , or know how to sort it ?

Thanks

I've also encountered this same issue and have not been able to get it to work.

I've tried installing the VC plugin from the customer portal, when trying to use the plugin I still get the spinning beachball of death.

Have you been able to sort through this issue?

Hello,

Yes actually , I found a soloution to the issue.

For some strange reason on mac's there appears to be a conflict with another plugin which prevents vc element to work.

Do you have AEjuice installed also ?

This plug-in can cause a conflict with Element on Macs. It’s something to do with a specific AEJuice file.

"AEJuicePackManager4.plugin"

Whether it is installed in the MediaCore Plug-ins folder or the AE Plug-ins folder, it will cause the issue. If you take it out of the Plug-ins folder, Element should work properly.

The default location that the AEJuice installer sends their plug-in files to is below:

"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore"

Hope this helps.

Make sure you install the latest version of Element 3D and that you are using the latest builds of AE 2020 or 2021. Nothing else will work. Element 3D is working on all of my Macs. The only thing I can think of that might give you problems is an older Mac with an incompatible GPU or an M1 Mac, but I don't think the M1's have Radeon Pro GPUs.

Thanks Rick,

I appreciate your reply, yeah my mac is a 2017 imac so not that old,

the only thing that changed is the OS.

Maybe the soloution may be to hard reset back to the OS it shipped with which was high sierra , as it was all working fine then. .

I'm running the latest build of Element on a 2017 MacBook Pro running 11.2.3.  I'm having no problems at all. Very similar GPU. I think the only thing in ll.3.1 is some security updates. I'd download the latest build of Element 3D and give that a try.
