DescriptionIt seems that it is possible to import 3D assets via scripting, but users encounter an options dialog upon import before the asset is ready in the project.  Can we get scripting support for that particular import options dialog?   We want users to be able to either accept the defaults of the dialog, or have scripting access to those settings, possibly in AE's Import object.  In essence, the objective is to be able to import 3D file types "silently" without user interaction via scripting. Why is this valuable?Some of Templater users want to automatically re-version their composition with various 3D object source files.  These users can accomplish this with Element3D because .obj files are imported without any dialog.  Current scripting access allows us to change the source of those Element3D .obj layers because there is no import dialog that users encounter upon adding an .obj data file to the project.  For the new, native 3D suppo

I updated the beta just now and when I reopened my previous project all the ProRes 444 footage in the project was now causing AE to freak out, tearing and artifacting on the screen. Completely unusable.System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v23.0.0.11    OS: macOS v12.5.0, RAM: 64.00 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 10 

this Beta version has the new trackmatte feature which is great btw, but I can't use 3D layers as track mattes.In the old version, there was no problem with that.   

Whenever I open AE, or opene a project, I get the error:Unable to execute script at line 5. system is undefined.I click OK to dismiss it, and AE seems to behave perfectly. System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v23.1.0.7    OS: Windows v10.0.19044, RAM: 127.92 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 32

The new beta version have a bug, any kind of .mov video doesn't have any sound at all. Tried multiple files, same. Re-rendered the video to .mp4 format in Premiere, after that the video has sound again.This only accurs in After effects beta version, seems fine in stable version.

We are very happy to bring a new feature to the Beta. As of today’s build (22.5.0 Build 18) you can now color your keyframes with one of AE's label colors. This has been a huge customer request, and we know users that saw the sneak-peek at MAX have been anxious to get their hands on it.   Right-click on any keyframe(s), select ‘Label’, and choose the color you want assigned. You will also notice an option to ‘Select Label Group’, where you can use that color label as the basis for a selection. We have a few more features coming very soon, including scripting hooks and additional selection options. So stay tuned…   The new color labels led us to realize we needed a better keyframe selection UI. We wanted to allow you to see the label colors even while selected, and to make sure the selection didn’t disappear if that label was blue. L'utilisation des touches de raccourcis 4,5 et 6, comme spécifié dans les préférences 3D ne fonctionne pas avec un clavier AZERTY. Je trouve le widget Universal pas si pratique et j'utiliserai plutôt les widgets Position, Echelle, Rotation. Pourquoi ne pas remprendre les raccourcis P S R, qui afficheraient à la fois la propriété correspondante dans le panneau montage et le widget dans le visualiseur de la composition. Les raccourcis 1, 2 et 3 ne fonctionnent pas non plus pour la navigation entre les outils caméra mais ce n'est pas gênant puisque l'on à les 3 boutons de souris avec Alt enfoncé ou appuyer plusieurs fois sur C.

As of today, we have expanded the functionality of the Shift+J and Shift+K keyboard shortcuts of After Effects 23.0 Beta (build 38).   You can now use Shift+J and Shift + K to navigate between keyframes or layer markers on a selected layer, ignoring keyframes and layer markers on unselected layers above and below.       You can also use Shift+J and Shift+K to navigate between keyframes on selected properties of a selected layer -- thus ignoring keyframes and layer markers on all unselected properties on your selected layer as well as those on unselected layers.     In the below example, we demonstrate both selection types in action. First, the user navigates between keyframes on the "Hair Bounce" layer. In After Effects beta (on Mac M1, at least), programmatically opening a ModalDialog extension from a "sibling" extension (both under the same ExtensionBundle CSXS/Manifest) now breaks the Extendscript scope. assuming my jsx file has this line:var hello = "world"; then on After Effects up until version 22.6 I could do in Javascript -var test1 = await evalScript("hello"); console.log("test1:" + test1); await openModalPanel(); var test2 = await evalScript("hello"); console.log("test2:" + test2);I would get:test1: worldtest2: worldwhere of course evalScript and openModalPanel are my custom async functions (code not shown) that evaluate JSX (using CSInterface.evalScript) and open a bundled ModalDialog extension and wait for it to open before resolving (by the use of CSInterface.requestOpenExtension and messaging to determin that it had opened). Same exact code as above on After Effects beta gives:test1: worldtest2: EvalScript

Hello, I have AE comps imported to PR (2020, not beta) timeline and everytime I update and save any comp in AE, all the comps in the PR timeline will turn offline. My temporary solution is to relink the media.  Does anyone know hwo to fix this? Thanks.

I'm using the latest version of AE, Beta 2023.0.0. that was just released days ago. And while the selectable track mattes are amazing, one issue I've run into is that in the Speed Graph, when you stretch the speed handles to ease the speed, you see no discernable difference. The speed curve stays the same. After I extend the right keyframe's speed handle to have that Vox-like speed effect, the shape of the speed curve doesn't change at all. Is this normal or is it a bug? Has anyone else run into this issue or is there some new setting I'm not aware of? The curve also used to be on the top and is now on the bottom.

Hi all!   I'm posting to let you know that we will update our system requirements with the next major release of our video applications. This includes the 23.0 versions of After Effects, Audition, Character Animator, Media Encoder, and Premiere Pro. We update our system requirements each year, which allows After Effects to take full advantage of these platforms and helps ensure optimal performance for you.    This change goes into effect with next week's Beta builds (week of August 22).    Minimum OS Requirements  To run After Effects Beta version 23.0, Mac users need to be on macOS Big Sur (version 11) or later. Windows users need to be on Windows 10 (64-bit) v20H2 (or later) or Windows 11.    We recommend running our applications on the latest operating systems:           macOS Monterey (version 12)            Windows 10 (64-bit) v21H2

Simple as that. I tried to reinstall couple of times but nothing changed, AE wont open

Starting with Beta build 23.0x6, the Composition Presets list has been overhauled to make it easier to find the more commonly used presets. We have also removed the NTSC and PAL related presets and added a set of Social Media ones for networks such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, etc. The new list will be created the first time you install and run a 23.0 Beta build.   Migrating Existing Custom Presets This change of presets is a full replacement of the old preset list, and your existing custom presets will not be migrated over automatically. You can either rebuild and save any composition presets or migrate your existing presets manually using the following example as a guide.   I have a composition preset called “My Custom 1749x984 Preset” which I want to migrate.   Install and run After Effects 23.0x6 or above, then close After Effects to ensure the new composition presets list has been written to disk. Hello. Loving the beta for the past few weeks. But when I upgraded today, I could only get ram previews to work new projects. Old projects yield: "After Effects (Beta) error: Cached Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback" This seems to be a very old bug wich has resurfaced. I purged all, increased cache size, trashed prefs... Restarted. No luck. Same project/comps ram preview correctly when I launch 22.2.0... even when current and beta AE are launched concurrently. AE (beta) 22.3.0 build 90Apple M1 Max, 64 GB RAM, MacOs 12.2.1

Right clicking on Columns (modes, switches, parent and link etc) does not do anything anymore (still works in the previous version)

As announced back in May, we’ve added Keyframe Color Labels to After Effects. Right-click on any keyframe(s), select ‘Label’, and choose the color you want assigned. Choose ‘Edit Label Colors…’ at the bottom of the Label list if you want to change those default colors. Use ‘Select Keyframe Label Group’, to have that color label be the basis for a selection (also available via scripting hooks).   From the feedback we have gotten so far, we’ve been adding updates and fixes along the way. Now we want to know from you, our beta members, whether you think Keyframe Color Labels are ready for primetime.   In your AE Beta build, click on the flask with the blue dot in the upper right:   In the What’s New in Beta panel that comes up, select ‘Rate features’ on the left. Hi everyone,I'm going crazy about this and I hope someone could help me.As in the title,  I'm using a Macbook pro 16 gb M1 and my after effects is letteraly unusable. Now I'm on a project that uses Animation Composer preset and I can't see the preview at all. I tryed to open the same project on another Macbook pro (2019) and everything goes easy. I comparated the render, memory, cache storage, preview settings, on both computers and everything seems to me ok and the same, but I can't see if there's someting I'm missimg or what. I only notinced that in my new computer when I press the spacebar for preview the cache blue/green bar becames uncolored, and restart the green from the start point. Then green go slow slow slow and stop. I'm not super expert on setting, so something maybe make no sense, but perhaps it could be helpful to understand what's wrong.I have also read that many people are having issues with the native Mac M1, so at least I would like to understand if it

Good afternoon!   As of After Effects 22.6 Beta (build 11), we have fixed a situation where starting a preview could cause After Effects to purge previously rendered and cached frames in front of the CTI, creating a need to re-render them during playback. The issue presented as slow playback even though green cache markings were present as the green cache markings do not update fast enough to reveal the purging. This would have been most noticeable in cases where memory usage was maxed out.   You should see improved Preview performance with less re-rendering during playback as After Effects should now purge the frames least likely to be played during that Preview if necessary. If you do see re-rendering of frames about to be played during Preview, either via the info panel or disappearing cache markings bar in front of your CTI, please reach out to us with your system specs and any project you see this behavior in.
