As you know, "resource specifications" is a great way to create UIs--it avoids a heck of a lot of brute-force calls that create objects in specific x,y locations within a dialog box. Here's an example one I wrote.var win= new Window ( """dialog { info: Panel { orientation: "column", text: "Go to Folder", path: Group { orientation: "row", s: StaticText { text: "Path:" },
I'm a pretty good javascript programmer and thought I'd give scripting a try on Bridge, but I foundthat the developer tool crashes frequently (mac pro, cs4), and bridge itself tends to crash the moreI use scripts. Some of the well-documented features of the toolkit just don't seem to work at all,and I also find the documentation to be sparse and unhelpful in getting to details, such as the DOM,function parameters, etc. Even among the stuff that is available, it's clear that scripting isn't seen asvery important--many must-have items aren't there, and the number of areas you can add UI elementsis severely limited. (I'm leaving out details because this should be self-evident to anyone that's alsotrying to do things.)I know no one that does scripting, and it took me forever to even find this forum. Once here,I noticed that few people come here. There are very few posts, most of them being old.Even the text-edit area I'm using to type this seems quite broken (select/delete doesn
Hi Folks,In a JavaScript in Bridge CS3, I'm updating a value in the XMP metadata for a Thumbnail. Later in the script I want to read the updated XMP metadata information from the Thumbnail, but often Bridge hasn't updated the metadata by the time I read it. In other words, my script reads the value prior to the update. I'm guessing there's a caching issue going on.I'm new to Bridge scripting, and I am hoping someone here can offer suggestions on how I can (or, even *if* I can) force Bridge to update the XMP metadata cache for a file so that when I read it later in the script it will reflect the recent changes. I've tried using Thumbnail.refresh(), but that doesn't seem to do the trick. I don't mind a slower script, I just want to be able to read the correct value. Thanks in advance for any help!-- Jim
Hello,I have a custom XMP panel built that is visible in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, which is nice.I can view this custom XMP panel in Bridge as well, however the fields with pulldown menus don't show in Bridge. Being able to use pulldowns is critical for our workflow...AND I want people to be able to use Bridge for metadata entry. Does anyone have a solution for this?I want fields with pulldowns in my custom XMP panel to be viewable and editable in Bridge. Help!!ThanksRob
We're using Bridge CS3 to generate contact sheets with InDesign CS3 using Bridge CS3's Tools > InDesign > Create InDesign Contact Sheet command. We've defined an InDesign template which we're using for these contacts sheets but find it annoying to have to browse for the template each time. Saving your settings with a Preset doesn't record your template selection so there's no joy there either. Not being at all savvy with Javascript, does anyone know how to edit ContactSheet_ID.jsx so that a default template is already input when the Create InDesign Contact Sheet command is invoked? Or perhaps to change the behavior of saving Presets so as to include this default template information? We'd want to locate the file at a universally locatable path such as a user's documents folder or the InDesign folder or on a server, etc. so that all users could easily use the command with expected results. The solution would ideally be for the Mac but any would be great too! Thanks!

Hi Folks,How can one tell, using a JavaScript for Bridge CS3, if XMP for a particular Thumbnail can be added or modified by Bridge? I'm currently using the sample code below from Bridge CS3's SnpModifyMetadata JavaScript to write the XMP to the Thumbnail: // ...SNIP... // xmp is a XMPMeta object, thumb is a Thumbnail object var updatedPacket = xmp.serialize( XMPConst.SERIALIZE_OMIT_PACKET_WRAPPER | XMPConst.SERIALIZE_USE_COMPACT_FORMAT); // Have Bridge update the thumbnail's metadata. thumb.metadata = new Metadata(updatedPacket); So, is there a way that a script can tell if the "thumb.metadata =" line actually knows how to add XMP to the Thumbnail before calling it? Also, if XMP can be added, what is the best way to tell if the XMP was successfully updated/added?I know I can use the XMPFile object's canPutXMP() method from th
I'm trying to make a contact sheet PDF, but have the images displayed in the "details" mode. Is there a way to do this?I'd like to have it look like this... (even better would be a block of ruled lines in the blank space for handwritten notes)
Does anyone have an example Bridge script that they can share that1. Runs on a selection of images from Bridge.2. Calls a simple action in Photoshop (resize and sharpen, for instance) for each image in turn3. Saves the images into a new folder or with different filenames. The key here is work from the selection in Bridge. Yes, I know I can do that with a Batch, but its important that it be from the script with no batch involved.Thank you in advance!!Eric
The export to jpeg bridge extension works great except all the images are saved with permissions for the group 'everyone' with 'No Access' - which causes problems showing images for the web. I have to manually change permissions to 'Read Only'.I've been trying to troubleshoot for hours to no avail. Anyone else run into this problem?Using Mac OS 10.5.7 - Bridge CS4 - BridgeExportToJpegCS4
I've written some scripts that can read and use metadata to do various things but I can't seems to modify the keyword list. When I try to reference the metaData. Keywords that I've succesfully read previously I get an exception. Is this data read only? I've seen lots of folks talk about modifying keywords but no example code.
Hi!I'm a webdeveloper.Till now I had no contact w Bridge but I have a client who is photograher.I'm designing a tool for him to administrate his orders etc.. We are looking for a solution to get rated images into my online tool. What I'm thinking of is to use the rating function of Bridge. It should work like that: He is selecting images using the rating function.Perfect would be if bridge can call a weblink when rating every image. The Link should contain the image data as variables, like that:http://pos.domain.com?order=[dirname]&file=[filename]&rating=[rating]dirname = Name of directoryfilename = Name of rated imagerating = RatingWould be thankful for any input.Cheers Philipp
I've followed the thread here: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?127@@.3bbaa316.3bbb9835 which goes into great detail as to how to export the data... but no mention of importing, even though it's titled as so. Is there a way to IMPORT metadata, specifically keywords, into Bridge? Ideally I would have a csv file, with file name in one column, keywords in next, import this and the rest is self explanatory obviously. any help is appreciated
Hi,We have created a custom metadata panel file and placed that file to the particular folder mentioned in user guide, and we can able to see/edit/save the custom metadata properties in FileInfo menu. But we need a new Palette in Adobe Bridge CS3 GUI to see this custom metadata and edit the details onto that palette (as same as in FileInfo menu). Is there any possiblities to do that?Regards,Karthik
Hey everyone! I have recently begun Javascripting to import a huge batch of a tab-delimited spreadsheet file filled with metadata to place to thousands of images in Adobe Bridge. Now, here is my barrier: CreatorContactInfo apparently has sublevels such as: -CiAdrCtry -CiEmailWork -CiUrlWork etc. But I'm unable to access those metadata variables. Typically, you would like: var m = t.metadata; m.namespace = "http://iptc.org/std/Iptc4xmpCore/1.0/xmlns/"; m.CiAdrCtry = "USA"; I have already followed the bottom of page 114 of the Bridge JavaScript Reference on multivalued properties but that doesn't work for the following: var m = t.metadata; m.namespace = "http://iptc.org/std/Iptc4xmpCore/1.0/xmlns/"; var coolVar = m.CreatorContactInfo; var another = coolVar["CreatorContactInfo/Iptc4xmpCore:CiAdrCity"]; If anyone was able to get around this, please do let me know! John Vu
Hello;I'm just discovering the java scripting in abobe bridge and can't find interresting samples on the internet just to learn how to "speak" to bridge. What i need to do is a script that for a selection set of thumbs iterates through it and writes some IPTC Data for me.I found the way to write but i now need to get the shooting data of the photo in the exif datas and pass it to the IPTC data : Date Created. The thing is that i don't find the trick to read the good EXIF info about the shooting date of the photo.Any help, samples and internet websites are welcome. Thanks for your help.Daniel Diligent
Could someone please tell me the location (on a PC running Windows XP Pro) of the Bridge scripts? Thanks... Tom Maugham
Hi, Does anyone know whether/how TIFF images can be plotted into ScriptUI dialogs? I would like to present user a preview of TIFF into an image control. regards, m.
Hi, I need either a solution or someone's pointing me in a right direction... I have to scale a TIFF file in Ai, so that one of the dimensions occupies a specified value, preserving aspect ratio. I think that matrix transformation serves that purpose, but I really have not a slightest idea how to do that. Alternatively, I could get away with knowing the TIFFs dimensions - if there is a quick way to obtain them - preferrably without long-lasting opening it (somewhere from headers?). Please shed light on which way to go. Regards.
Is it possible to do keyword searches across multiple folders and drives in Bridge CS3? On disk I have organised my images by geographical location, but want to keyword them and search for them by theme. This will cut across several drives each with numerous folders and sub-folders. All the drives, folders and sub-folders are on the same pc, which is a stand alone machine and not networked.
Hello, I need to query a small SQLite Database from within Bridge. Does anyone know if that is possible. Maybe via: 1. "Integrating External Libraries", which is too hardcore for me :( 2. Commandline, which is not that nice 3. A small AIR app connected via SwitchBoard Has anyone coped with this task before? Regards, Markus
I saved the "Document Info" details in adobe illustrator manually using "Document Info Pannel". But i could not save the "Document Info" details through illustrator action and script. Is it possible the above process through "Adobe Bridge scripting". Kindly advice me.
Does anybody know where to start... I am a novice at scripting, is there any scripts I can amend/customise. I need to export all fields for one record in filemaker into the keywords panel of a pdf so they are searchable in bridge. How easy is this to do ? Is this too difficult to explain on a forum ?
The foreground and background color in ScriptUI.graphics seem to be a little confusing. on all controls you can set foreground color, but it doesn't actually work on window, button, radiobutton, checkbox, treeview, group backgroundColor can not be set for button, iconbutton, radiobutton, checkbox, treeview didn't check everything, but is there a way around this. Also I'm testing CS3, has this changed cs4 Thanks
