I am having issues with the audio and visual presentation in HTML published file both in Chrome (less so) and Internet Explorer (much worse).1. Audio getting cut off when playing the published HTML (a few clicks to branch content and to jump to links are used) in Internet Explorer 11 (Not my choice, it is what our users and I have). Yes, the audio imported to the Captivate slides or objects have small gaps before and after on the timeline. WAV files were imported to Library then to slide or object. Runs about 10 minutes as client prefers single file. The audio cut off is inconsistent; if I use the controls to go back, the sound is normal and the built in break/pause is as expected. Next time I play it, the glitch may occur in a different place entirely. Any ideas? I also suspect our company network may be out of bandwidth. Weirdly, a colleague gets fewer issues than I do in IE 11. Same network, supposedly same laptop configuration. company controls versioning updates.2. "Ghost" images
After solving one translation issue into going to HMTL5, ran into another. Have some training that have multiple Knowledge Checks I've created using the Radio Button widget and advanced actions that show right/wrong/how many tries (because you can only have one "quiz" even if it were a survey) and need more than one. Have 3 radio buttons and an advanced action that captures the selected answer and checks if right/wrong upon pressing submit. Testing/publishing to Flash, the right/wrong/more tries works fine and if the correct radio button is selected, it will show the "correct" dialog. Publishing to HTML5, does not. It keeps showing "wrong" even if I select the right answer. To test my theory, that HTML5 isn't capturing and comparing the selected radio button against the variable (have tried both variable and literal), I put the answer in a variable "v_correct" and compared it in the AA. On the stage, I *also* put a $$myRB$$ (name of RadioButton Widget Variable to be passed) to test the
I have just started using Adobe Presenter and have version 11.1 installed. When inserting an MP4 video, I receive an error that I must have QuickTime installed. I tried to do a WMV instead and received the same error. Due to the fact that Apple no longer supports QuickTime and the associated security risks with it, our IT team will not install it. Two questions related to this. 1) Will Adobe be updating presenter so that QuickTime is not required for inserting videos? 2) If I convert the video to FLV, will flash player be required for users to watch the video?
I have created a SCORM course in Captivate 9. There are 5 quiz questions at the end, worth 20 points each. When a user takes the course in IE, all seems fine. But when a user takes the course in Chrome, their score reflects incorrectly in our LMS. For instance, I tested the course yesterday in Chrome and achieved an 80% score, but my LMS transcript reads 60%. Any idea why this would be occurring in Chrome only? Thanks in advance.
I do a lot of work on technical content, acronyms, and sentences that must be painstakingly edited in Slide Notes (Text-to-Speech) to ensure that when redndered to audio they sound right. The small font is a constant source of annoyance when editing, especially if I need to select a lower case L or similar character. Can I increase the size of this font? Thanks
Is it possible at all with a template or theme to designate an area for your closed captioning or other caption text that is OUTSIDE of the recording area when you record a software simulation? I know you can have a TOC off to the side that is "outside" of the running simulation, but it doesn't seem like you can set a caption zone. And I KNOW you can record a simulation and then save it as an MP4 or SWF and embed it into a slide that has a designated area, but I'm talking about recording the simulation and when it's done, it's there in Captivate with a side bar or bottom bar that is not covering up the simulation on each slide... Thanks. I'm currently in Captivate 2017 but might upgrade soon.
After updating to 2019, I am unable to import already created and saved PPT and PPTX into captivate. I am able to create one with two or three slides and it will work fine. It will get to slide 30, freeze and give an error that I need to install a JDK file. For reference, I am on a Mac, all products are updated.
Hi guys.I'm trying to create a quiz with an interactions, radio button. So, I put everything: image on the background, the interaction "radio button", input the texts and when I publish, the text of options just appear cutted. I'v tried everything to fix this, but i just don't know how! Following some prints of the problem. Someone can help me? Oh, its's captivate 9. tks a lot!Simone
I am using Captivate 11.0 and trying to capture user selections and then populate a feedback history in a text box. This is for a healthcare class in which the students select from a list of options to gather information and ultimatley make a decision. For example, if they click on "Medications" I have a text box with medication data display. I want to capture only the data for those items the user selects and save it to a variable so it can be reviewed later ("History" button) if the user needs to recall data from a previous slide. Anyway, I am not having issues with any one variable, I simply haven't found a way or method to concatenate dynamic user selected variables and populate a text box. Maybe I'm just using the wrong tool for the job.Can anyone help with a tip, example or provide simple direction? I'm lost.
Hi,We would like to embed web content/HTML into the slide and be able to use custom urls functionality that will allow to go to next, previous and any slide N from within embedded HTML. Is this possible in Captivate? Thanks a lot, G.
Hi all,I have a captivate quiz that I've created from scratch as a prototype for a larger project I'm working on. I use advanced actions and variables to track quiz results - I'm tracking overall quiz results and the results for separate sections. On the results page the learner will receive an overall score as well as feedback and results on the individual section performance. On enter the results slide executes a complex advanced action, with 9 decisions, each of which uses the conditional tab. This basically tells it to change the state of certain results based on the scores tracked for the individual sections using advanced actions. On the results slide I also have 2 buttons: exit, which just exits the course, and print, which executes JavaScript to "window.print()"I tested the course using preview > project and everything worked exactly as expected. Not a single thing went wrong. But because you have to test HTML5 in browser to test the JavaScript I then tested the project using
Hi guys!I am working on a demo for a virtual reality project in Captivate and the type of image that I am looking foris one of an open plan office (ideally...) with desks with laptops/computers on them.Does anyone know of a good online resource for these (ideally free!) ???Do you guys know the types of images that I mean? They don't look like normal straight-forward images but have been taken with a special camera (see attached) and then manipulated in a special application and thenyou can import these into a CAPTIVATE virtual reality project. Thanks in advance!Keith
Is there any way to be able to write plugins or extensions for Captivate? I'd like to build some tools that will allow us to do common things that require many steps into one quick macro. Is there any ways to programmatically integrate with Captivate?
At my organization, most of our staff still use Internet Explorer. However, IE does not always handle HTML5 very well, so we want to force them to open our e-learning modules in Chrome. So I wrote a bit of JavaScript that detects whether or not the learner is using Chrome. The JS then assigns a value of 1 to a user variable (chromecheck) if the browser is Chrome. Then I have a conditional advanced action that says: if chromecheck = 1, continue on, else display a message that tells the user to close their browser and relaunch the lesson in Chrome. This works just fine if the user initially launched in Chrome. The lesson proceeds as normal. And if they open in Internet Explorer, they receive the message that they need to switch to Chrome. But when they reopen in Chrome, they are told they aren't in Chrome and need to switch to Chrome. I assume this is because the LMS has retained the value of the chromecheck variable, and that variable is telling Captivate that they user is in a non-Chrome
HelloWould it be possible to display the Review Quiz button only after passing the quiz? If you need to repeat the quiz, you will not be able to see the Quiz Review button. People who had 1 or 2 questions wrong, but still pass the quiz, always ask which questions they answered wrong. In this case, I'd like to give people a chance to check. But I don't want those who failed to see the answers. In Captivate 2017 I solved this by placing the Review button under the Repeat Test button. If you have to repeat the test, the Review Quiz button will be overlaid by the Repeat Quiz button. If you pass the quiz, the Repeat Quiz button will not be displayed and the Quiz Review button will appear. But in the 2019 version, it doesent work. The quiz repeat button always is in front of the Repeat Test button. Changing the foreground/background order does nothing.Does anyone have a solution on how I can do this?Thank you!
HelloI have a number of slides that use the built-in accordion and other learning interaction widgets with tabs to reveal content. They work perfectly, and learners can open and close the tabs in any order and repeatedly. I also have a click box (hidden) on each slide set to allow using the right arrow key for advancing to the next slide. This function works perfectly on all my slides. On entry to the accordion slides (and other slides with different learning interaction widgets), the keyboard shortcut works perfectly if the learner wishes to skip the accordion tabs, but as soon as any of the accordion tabs are clicked and opened, the keyboard shortcut fails to work. I have tried pretty much every variation of timeline setting, on entry settings, pauses, continue and anything I could think of. The right arrow key performs perfectly before a learning interaction tab is clicked even if the widget is present on the stage.... but doesn't work after a tab is clicked. I would like all my sli
Hi everyone, hope all had or having a great 4th of July weekend! Background:I Designed a pilot program where the user completes 10 slides as part of a “pre” test. As the user goes through each slide, a percentage is displayed to let the user know how much he/she has completed. I want to take the percentage and send it to a custom HTML file as illustrated below. I find a custom HTML much easier to manipulate for this project, as I will be adding additional topics for the user later down the road.User clicks on study:User goes through several slides, and a percentage is displayed.Need to take the current percentage from Captivate and send to custom HTML.HMTL - Source<!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en"><head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title></title><!-- Mobile Specific Meta --> <meta content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1" name="viewport"> <!-- Meta used for SEO -
Can someone help me figure out how to get rid of an image that is appearing in my project but not showing anywhere in the timeline.I have no idea how it got there and how to get rid of it.
When you launch an Adobe CC application, there is a Learn option. It guides you through the basics through explanation, and practice on your own with the application. It appears to be a great way for learning software by allowing and tracking of how you're doing with the program you're learning.I wonder what technology is used to build this? I like it more than Captivate. Thanks,
I have a course that contains simulations as well as the quiz at the end. The Quiz Review button is taking users back to the start of one of the simulations in stead of the start of the quiz questions. I cannot figure out how to fix this and still include simulations recorded in Captivate. Anyone have any suggestions?
I am trying to add an advanced action to display a return to course button on the quiz results page after a user fails a quiz 3 times. Is this possible. I am unable to figure this out. any insight would be much appreciated. I am using Captivate 2019.
Hi everyone,I am currently building an e-learning module from scratch and in the middle of it I have a Knowledge Check questionwith is of the multiple choice variety, giving the user an infinite number of attempts to get the question right. All I have is a SUBMIT, SKIP and PREVIOUS button at the bottom.Now... is this possible?:-When the user gets to this screen, the SKIP button is invisible while they can see the SUBMIT and PREVIOUS buttons. The SKIP button only appears when they have selected the correct answer and then clicked SUBMIT.Can this be done with a Knowledge Check question OR do I have to build my own bespoke interaction slide that looks likea question slide and do some conditional coding etc?ThanksKeith
Hello,I have Captivate 9.0.2.437, thanks to a recent update. Since getting the update a couple of days ago, I can no longer paste anything from a slide on one Captivate file to a slide on another Captivate file.Is the something I can do about this please?RegardsHazel
how to manage reports so that every page on the project that we create in the captivate can be recorded by LMS moodle?note: I use the 2019 version of captivate
The 1st knowledge check below is prior to preview. All looks proper. The 2nd screen shot is what it looks like in preview (safari and ipad)Because it look fine on my desktop I'm not sure where to try to fix the issue. Additionally, there are issues when clicking on the answer boxes.Much of the time when I click a box it will totally knock it out of alignment. Finicky would be a drastic understatement. Any thoughts? thanks much.
