Question

Is there a way to simply add timing manually, instead of always using the timeline sliding bar

When, this has been my first attempt at learning Adobe Captivate 9, and I am definitely still at the frustration stage, although I do see the power of the tool.

One frustration is that I cannot seem to find a way to manual time in the time for an object to enter or leave. Using the timeline sliding bar can be somewhat frustrating, and many time a bar snaps back to the beginning or swaps positions within another object in the timeline.

Thanks

You know, I think this might be a question of my mouse sensitivity. My timeline bars really jump around and move ... it is so frustrating ... it is the main reason I stop working at times and take breaks.

Same for me, although I always have the Timing properties Panel open (in expert UI). Besides dragging, you can also use keyboard shortcuts in the Timeline panel. Here is an old article, where most of those are described, they are still valid and most of them (not all) also for the Effects timelines:

Another tip: in most numeric fields you can also use arrow keys to increase/decrease the values: Up and Down will change over 0,1secs in the Timing panel fields, Shift in combination with Up and Down will increment/decrement with 1 sec.

If that's the way you prefer doing things...Select an object on the slide.

Go to the Timing tab.  (If you don't have it in the Properties area, enable it from the Windows menu.)

You can manually type in when it appears on slide and for how long (in seconds).

Personally, I'd much rather drag things around on the timeline myself.
