"Audio is too long to computer lip-sync" Error when Lip-syncing Audio and Transcript

Works fine lip-syncing without transcript. I added the script to the audio file via copy-and-paste. The icon next to the audio file change from a wave to a wave with a "T", so all is good there.

And the audio file and text have been matched.

I'm new to Character Animator. This is my first project. Any help would be great.

Well, still no answer for why I can't just copy-and-paste transcript, but exporting from Premiere and then importing as an .srt file did the trick. So, I have it working.

Perhaps the copy-and-paste needs timecodes. I haven't seen any literature on needing timecodes for copy-and-paste, but something's bug-up with it.

Premiere Pro doesn't export SRT files for me so I opted for the text export.... but then get this error

Audio is too long to compute lip sync using a transcript (more than 160 seconds)

Okay the Premiere part needed an extra step to export as SRT... converting it into a Caption and then exporting from the Captions tab.

I'm not sure what the format of the data was that was pasted, but you'll get way better results with an SRT import than with raw text. Each timecode provides an anchor to a known point in time so that the code that figures out how the individual mouth shapes align only has to worry about getting one short phrase correctly aligned.

For a much longer segment of text with no timecodes, any tiny error in alignment accumulates so that by the end the result can be substantially off even if non of the errors along the way were very large. It's also much faster to do the alignment when it can operate on smaller chunks because there are fewer possibilities to consider.

(if you want to share an example of what was pasted, it might let me confirm why it failed)

Oh, wait. Sorry, I just re-read and realized the problem from the title. Was too hasty before and glossed over that bit. Sorry about that.

The short version is that the mention in the previous comment about the process being much faster on shorter segments is the root of this problem. At a certain segment size, alignment just takes way too long because there's too many possibilities to consider, so it refuses to even try to align it.
