Hi there.I've got a problem with getting the draggable handles working properly. After experimenting with the default puppets, I eventually made a puppet from scratch in Ps. I couldn't get the draggables working, so rebuilt it but that was no good so eventually copied the parts across into the working puppet, Max. However, the problem persisted. It's same issue I've seen documented elsewhere - that is, the dragging the arms pulls the body with it. I've read all the relevant forum queries and viewed the relevant videos in detail. I've tried all manner of combinations with no success. You name it. I've done it. As I said, I finally copied the Ps parts into a working puppet thinking that would fix things, but not so. I've spent too many hours on this. Can any one help?Cheers,Matthew.Photoshop CC (2017)After Effects CC (2017)Chacter Animator CC (Beta)Windows 7 SP1, 64 bitASUS G73Jh, i7 1.60 GHz
Hello! When I move Ca recording to Premier Pro, a blurry film seems to overlay the recording when it plays. Any ideas for getting rid of the blurry "overlay"? Thanks!
Good afternoon,I would like to be able to control my puppets eyes with my mouse for a recording pass instead of with a camera. When I set this up, my mouse controls only one eye pupil. Is there a way to do both (without camera input)? Thanks!Ryan
I defo don't have the time to make my own puppets? There should be a stock lib of puppets in this program for sure.
Hello, I've been experimenting with Character Animator and creating puppets and backgrounds for my animation shorts. I'm proficient with Photoshop and Illustrator, and I'm getting better and better with CA.The majority of the tutorials I see use CA as a base for creating/recording animations/puppets, and After Effects as the finishing app. I don't have any experience with AE, and I'd like to know where should I look for tutorials to help me learn some if the basics. I find lots of tutorials for the many abilities of AE, but I'm speciafically interested in something to help with creating animations, incorparating backgrounds, etc.Any suggestions? Thank you!
I'm working on this puppet, and when I close my eyes or lower my eyelids, the head and the hair scale down in "y", unlike the eyeballs, which remain the same. I would actually to get the opposite behaviour. Please advise, thanks!
I'm finally investing time in Ch again, and can finally build a somewhat respectable puppet. My latest is a "Rasta Man", who is sporting twelve dread-locks, all anchored and dangling nicely in my scene. All other movements are smooth too.But the mouth, which I've used before with a different puppet, looks like someone suffering a stroke in my scene. Is it VRAM maybe?
Hi there!I have a question/problem about/ with Dynamic Links from Animator to After Effects. If you may could help me, that would be really great! The problem:When I import the Animator File to After Effects it works perfectly and quite quick. But when I put it into a composition it takes very long and I have to wait because AE gives no more feedback. So it takes a lot of time to respond. After that I can put my scene (animator composition) into the main composition but when I try to let the scene play in AE, the rendering is very very slow. Even with the lowest resolution. Could there be anything wrong with my settings? Or could it be, that AE needs more RAM?I may have to inform you, that the animator scene is really big (3 times HD-size -> 5760 x 3240) because I have to zoom the main composition later and the main composition also has some animation done with DUIK (wich gives the problem, that I can not use the continuously rasterize button (I work with AI- Illustrations). What to do if it said camera busy? It will not do anything that I need it to do.
Looking for a little help with character setup. I have this character with a chain attached to the glasses that I want to apply a dangle modifier to. The chain is a sublayer of the head (in front of hair), and is supposed to go behind the shoulders of the character (right now each chain section ends at the shoulders). I can't find a way to make this work, since the head layer is stacked above the body/neck layers, but the chain needs to go behind the shoulders. It is entirely possible that the solution is right in front of me, but I've been staring at it too long to recognize it.Thanks,Pat

Hello, I work in an environment where I cannot have a webcam. Is it possible to pre-record a video and then bring it into character animate to use instead of using a live webcam?Thank you!

Salve a tutti!
I think I've read that I can control my puppet with two fingers, using a touch surface. I assume that's a PC or MacBook with a touch screen... is it possible to incorporate an iPad Pro into using Character Animator?
i made 2 heads: normal and angry. both with eyebrows, blink, pupils and mouth. i activate 'angry' with the keyboard.the problem is:normal head: doesnt blink and the pupils doesnt move at all, the only things working are the mouth and eyebrows. On the other head (angry😞 working: blink, pupils, mouth. but the eyebrows doesnt.my animation layers: http://i.imgur.com/bbzRaMx.pngedit: i figured it out!. if anyone have the same issue, just add a 'face' and 'eye gaze' behavior to the second head
Hi there.I have a puppet which has 5 "head turn" positions for both the head and the body. The head uses the actual Head Turner behavior, but I have the body set to use key triggers. Each body position (Frontal, Quarters, and Profiles) has its own arms, which are draggable. My question is, is there a way or approach to make it to where the positions I drag the arms to are retained as the body switches between views? E.g. if she's in Frontal and I raise her arm in a wave, and then want her to turn to Quarter Right, I want her arm to stay in that position (relative to the new view).I realize this isn't straightforward because each view has its own set of arms, as I mentioned, so the Quarter Right version of the arm wouldn't directly know that the Frontal version of the same arm is raised. How do you guys address this challenge? Or do you just record many separate takes and match up each draggable element through each body turn one at a time? That seems tedious, and likely that the end resu
When I add my puppet to a new scene, the Behavior settings always start with the program default settings. Is there a way to copy all my settings from a previous scene? Wondering if other users just copy old scenes featuring the puppet and then delete out the recordings, rather than creating new scenes and having to reset all the Behavior settings. Or is there an easy way to save your puppet's settings to use in new scenes?
Hi, I'm just wondering if there's a way to drag more than one thing at a time using Mouse. I know you can drag 2 things at a time using touch screen but I can't seem to figure out how to do it using Mouse. I want 2 hands to move together when doing hand gestures so it would really help.Thanks.
For some reason after filing and labeling my character almost exactly as the example puppets I am having trouble with "headturner" and a certain animation that I have triggered for the "m" button which triggers my "Mad Eyes" animation. I seriously think the headturner issue is a bug. I have not that many eye and lid triggers but they do not seem to work smoothly. When I enable the "headturner" It deselects the eyebrows and eyes sometimes. It's happening often on one particular character.Also...where do I email the character to get help if I want to? I don't want to just put it out in forum for everyone. I plan on copyrighting and trademarking these characters.Help please!!!Thank youGary
Guys we need a real tutorial and the head turner is not working correctly.
Hi Dave, hello everyone, my Q is: What do the eye tags do, exactly? Especially "size upper/lower lid" is not clear to me, since there IS a tag already that tells the pupils not to "walk" out of the designated area, which, I thought, is the eyeball. Also, when I change the view of the TAGs to image, nothing indicates what or where this "size upper/lower lid" tag is located. More puzzling: Some of my eyelids have this tag, others don't, even though the name-structure is always identical… So please could someone explain the differences between the different tags all around the eyes…? Thank you very much for your concern and effort… Best, Stefan
