I had forgotten to cancel my yearly subscription, and got charged today. Is it possible to get a refund on the charge and my subscription canceled?

I have recently gone through a life hectic life change that altered my financial situation, in the haze of this situation I had forgotten to cancel my annual subscription, and was surprised by the charge today. I was wondering, since I canceled soon after the charge, if I could get it refunded as well as my subscription canceled.
