Suspicious 2FA Verification Codes via WhatsApp (Geeta Code / Shikshyan Auth)

Hi

I’m currently trying to add a phone number to my Adobe account for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), but I’m experiencing some very suspicious behavior.

Instead of receiving a standard SMS, I am getting verification codes via WhatsApp. The messages are coming from accounts named "Geeta Code" and "Shikshyan Auth." This feels like a security risk or a phishing attempt, so I have not entered the codes.

  1. Are "Geeta Code" or "Shikshyan Auth" official or authorized third-party SMS/WhatsApp gateways for Adobe?

  2. Is it normal for Adobe to use WhatsApp for 2FA in certain regions?

  3. How can I securely link my phone number if the official system is routing through these suspicious-looking senders?

Hi @J Cedar, you are right to be suspicious. Adobe will send a code via SMS text message to whatever phone number you have, not via WhatsApp.

Do NOT reply or enter codes from those WhatsApp senders. Those are not official Adobe names. Responding or entering codes into websites they prompt could let attackers compromise your account.

Try setting up 2FA again using the official Adobe security page:

Log out of the browser you were using to clear the cache.

Relaunch and go to https://account.adobe.com → Security → Two-step verification. Choose SMS text message or the Adobe Account Access app.

Let us know if you are still having problems.

Thank you for the reply. I followed the steps exactly: I logged out, cleared my browser cache, and tried to set up 2FA again over account.adobe.com.

Unfortunately, the result is exactly the same. I receive the ‘code’ from a WhatsApp message from 'Shikshyan Auth'. I did not receive any SMS.

Since this still happens after following the official setup steps, I am genuinely concerned. It feels like my phone number may be passing through an unknown third party, which raises questions about data security and whether other account information could also be at risk.

This looks serious and I don’t feel safe completing 2FA under these conditions.

Could this please be escalated to Adobe’s security team? I would appreciate clarification on what might be happening and how to enable 2FA in a fully secure way.

@J Cedar I am sorry I am not sure anyone is going to be able to resolve your anixiety with the security process.

The fact that I don’t see the request for SMS confirmations and the process ccould be normal. These types in inquires are commonly handled by the people you already spoke too.

I would encourage you to complete the verification process that you have initiated. If you are not comfortable with the results, @J Cedar then you may want to find another provider for the services you were considering purchasing from us.
