Creative Cloud sync folder deleted all my files today

All the contents of my Creative Cloud folder disappeared today. After I completely freaked out, I restored from Time Machine and only had to re-do about 30 minutes' worth of work. Except it took 2 hours to freak out and restore... It's possible they were only in the trash on the website. I didn't figure that out till the second time it happened.

Why, after I restored them from Time Machine, and worked on them further, did they disappear AGAIN and I had to restore them from the CC web interface (out of the web interface trash back into the synced files folder)?

Now I can't trust that the files I'm working on will be there tomorrow morning, so they are in two places on my hard drive. Not efficient for keeping track of the latest, and not efficient because it seems like it would use twice as much storage space.

So, if the files in my CC sync folder aren't actually on my internal storage, where exactly are they? Only in the cloud?

Today there was also some weirdness surrounding Adobe Profiles for enterprise and teams accounts. I was booted off CC in the middle of working, and then when logging back in I mistakenly turned my work account into a personal (free) account, so that didn't help matters. That probably started the whole thing. And I've been at my computer for 14 hours today so I am signing off.

I am interested to understand what is happening.

OH WAIT. It deleted all my files AGAIN. Its all coming out of the sync folder. I'm done with this.

good lesson.  never trust cloud files for anything critical.  it's a convenience, at best.
