Adobe Digital Editions Error Check Activation- Intermittent Problem

Hi I use ADE on Windows 10.  I am having an intermitent problem with an check activation error.  It just started reciently.  Sometimes it will allow me to download a book but sometimes I receive the error message.  I would be greatful for any assistance.  Thanks!
