Unfortunately we don't have specific instructions for every application out there (there are just too many) and settings really depend on what you want to do with it.  We do have some general recommendations for preparing models for best use in Dimension here:

Supported 3D model formats and content

If you have any .obj files that fail to import you can e-mail them to tickets@adobedimension.com and we'll take a look.  As mentioned by Kat, Dimension is a relatively new app, so we're still working on the robustness of the importer.  Since .obj is an open format there are many variations of it, lots of edge cases we run into.  The majority should import without any specific settings though.

Shouldn't be necessary, except when the import function of Dimension is not very robust.

i find it necessary when the file comes from an unknown because there are lot of versions of OBJ out there and not all are equal

ime a lot of people are grabbing [lets just call them cheep] files from the internet and then blaming Dimension when these files don't rendor perfectly as high res images so yes part of the issue is Dimension is new and the import function needs to be made more robust but the other half of the senario is fixing the 3d model you started with pays down the line

I never used Cinema 4D and did not use until now Dimension, but I worked with the original Wavefront Advanced Visualizer, the originator of that format. The data is quite simple and straight forward, so I suppose, you just need to hit export with all options included. Dimension should be able to simply read in the data as provided. The format is around 30 years old so that I wondered that it is still around.

there is no way do that, so adobe dimension has no support to import C4D, I can't believe

remember this is a "new" app and there is much yet to be developed.
