CC Cloud Desktop Updates Hang

  • May 5, 2026

For a few months now, the Updates for any of the CC desktop apps have been, and are still, VERY slow to download. And then, it will stall out anywhere from ¼ to ½ way through the download.

Adobe acknowledges this by having a “pop-up” message at the bottom of the screen stating there is a problem and they are working/trying to resolve the issue.

I have cancelled the downloads, restarted the computer and restarted the whole update process but to no avail. I have done this multiple times and what is puzzling, is that after I do all this, I have to re-install the apps, which I was trying to update, and the download process (of installing the apps from scratch) works just fine … and is installed with the latest updates.

It’s just the “Updating” process that has a problem.

It is not my computer causing this as all my other apps run and update just fine … and it is not my Internet connection which speed tests at around 170Mbps DL / 40Mbps UL.

So, Adobe … why is this happening? It is obviously at your end as I have read other posts in this forum asking/stating the same thing.

Please resolve this issue.

Thank you.

    1. No we don’t communicate with Adobe product engineers. That’s not our role here.
    2. When there’s an outage, the Adobe Systems Status Report reflects it in real time.
      https://status.adobe.com/
    3. Bug reports are logged & shared with product engineering teams.

Feel free to post your bug report below in the Creative Cloud Desktop forum.

    https://community.adobe.com/bug-reports-601

Hope that answers all your questions.

Thank you for your reply Nancy.

You stated that you don’t communicate with Adobe Product Engineers.

But in your previous post to me, you stated: “I can’t report a problem I don’t have and can’t reproduce”.

So where would (or to whom do) you report problems to?!

I’m having exactly the same issue. I have never had this problem until now. I closed everything and restarted the computer. It’s been stuck at 94% for Brindge for the past hour. Before, it was stuck at photoshop 47%. I restarted my computer- this resulted in photoshop that will now not open at all because it says it’s “damaged”. What’s happening and how do I fix this? I have deadlines to meet and have wasted 5 hours on this today with no solution.

first try, resetting the cc app:

To reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press: Win: Ctrl + Alt + R Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

I did all of those things. It just kept getting stuck and when I shut it down i couldn’t use the affected apps: LRC, PS and Bridge.

I find it quite amazing that this is still occurring.

Even more amazing is that the “Community Expert’s” and “Community Manager’s” do not mention nor acknowledge that this is an Adobe issue/problem and just offer “workarounds”.

Are you “Experts” and “Managers” relaying this issue to the engineering team(s)?!

    I would like to know:

    - Why this is happening

    - When will this be resolved (status updates would be welcomed)

I’ve been a loyal and staunch supporter of Adobe’s products. But with what seems like a simple issue to resolve and being provided no information as to “why” this is happening and being fed “workarounds” … doesn’t exactly instill confidence in me that Adobe is progressing in the needs of their customer base.

Maybe Adobe should utilize Anthropic’s Mythos to root out and fix this issue?!

it’s something the overwhelming majority of cc users do not see.  and the last we’d heard from you was that the problem appeared resoved. is it back again for you?

    “Overwhelming Majority”?!

Perhaps you are referring to users that don’t bother posting about this issue and just close out the CC app and start over again or resolve it in their own methods?!

Currently, it is still occurring with my updates … so no, it is NOT resolved.

Though, it did work one time before that without any issues. (You can read that post below, it was about a month ago … as you also replied to it. Then note my (separate) post above it.)

I’m glad the method posted by krittanai 1444 worked for that person. That workaround reminded me of using a Unix or MS-DOS line command. 😂

Again, we shouldn’t have to go through such methods for this.

Also, you or any of the other Community Experts / Managers, have not stated as to WHY this is occurring.

Do you communicate / relay such issues to the engineering teams?!

Having the same isssue, the update for Adobe Photoshop was stuck at 42%, I’ve force closed the Creative Cloud app and losing the access to the Adobe Photoshop with pop up message “You can’t open the application “Adobe Photoshop 2026” because it may be damaged or incomplete.”

I’ve Trying to install it again and the same issue happened, the installing process stuck at 42% which is sucks, while I have such an important deadline to close by this week.

I’ve left it for running this afternoon with hope this will be done later on, unfortunately the installing process still stuck at 42%.

    @Wisuda Dwipana

i just updated ps and it took 2 ½ minutes.  did you wait, at least, a few minutes when it appeared to hang (because this latest and all previous adobe app updates increment at very irregular rates).

Yes, I’ve wait before decided to canceled it as this is very first time and I regurally update my adobe app, so I thought there’s something wrong with this one. I decided to use the adobe cc cleaner and remove both creative cloud and photoshop, now I already able to install both, but another issue happened with some of my plugin that I can’t use anymore, as it’s said an error-2 in the installation process which is frustrating. I’ve hold some of my work because of this and still couldn’t figure out the issue even after follow up some tips on the community notes. This update is the worst after using the adobe service for years, which is sucks.

Exact same problems and work-arounds this end. Running Mac Tahoe 26.5.1. Problem has only surfaced in the last month or so, but it’s becoming quite a time-waster.

    Hi @Danni Jones,

Thanks for sharing these details. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when updates keep failing midway while fresh installs work fine.

Based on what you’ve described, this appears to be related to the Creative Cloud updater process getting stuck.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this:

Let us know how it goes.

    2. put this ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/  and enter
    3. Find folder name is OOBE and rename to OOBE_old
    4. Restart your mac

OK … well, my previous updating adventure for LRC and ACR were executed as expected BUT … today’s updating of ID, not so much … as it stalled out again.

What’s strange is, that this time, after I closed down CC and then rebooted my computer … I went back into CC and ID was still showing up as needing the update.

My previous (failed) updating experiences, CC did not show the applications installed after I rebooted. So I had to reinstall the entire application (PS, PP, etc...) but it did include the updates.

Strange. Oh well, there are worse things in life to deal with. As long as I can somehow get it to work is all that really matters. But at the same time, it would be nice to not have to go through all the work-arounds.

Maybe Adobe should run Anthropic’s Mythos to find the issue.
