CC Cloud Desktop Updates Hang

For a few months now, the Updates for any of the CC desktop apps have been, and are still, VERY slow to download. And then, it will stall out anywhere from ¼ to ½ way through the download.

Adobe acknowledges this by having a “pop-up” message at the bottom of the screen stating there is a problem and they are working/trying to resolve the issue.

I have cancelled the downloads, restarted the computer and restarted the whole update process but to no avail. I have done this multiple times and what is puzzling, is that after I do all this, I have to re-install the apps, which I was trying to update, and the download process (of installing the apps from scratch) works just fine … and is installed with the latest updates.

It’s just the “Updating” process that has a problem.

It is not my computer causing this as all my other apps run and update just fine … and it is not my Internet connection which speed tests at around 170Mbps DL / 40Mbps UL.

So, Adobe … why is this happening? It is obviously at your end as I have read other posts in this forum asking/stating the same thing.

Please resolve this issue.

Thank you.

Having the same isssue, the update for Adobe Photoshop was stuck at 42%, I’ve force closed the Creative Cloud app and losing the access to the Adobe Photoshop with pop up message “You can’t open the application “Adobe Photoshop 2026” because it may be damaged or incomplete.”

I’ve Trying to install it again and the same issue happened, the installing process stuck at 42% which is sucks, while I have such an important deadline to close by this week.

I’ve left it for running this afternoon with hope this will be done later on, unfortunately the installing process still stuck at 42%.

    @Wisuda Dwipana

i just updated ps and it took 2 ½ minutes.  did you wait, at least, a few minutes when it appeared to hang (because this latest and all previous adobe app updates increment at very irregular rates).

Yes, I’ve wait before decided to canceled it as this is very first time and I regurally update my adobe app, so I thought there’s something wrong with this one. I decided to use the adobe cc cleaner and remove both creative cloud and photoshop, now I already able to install both, but another issue happened with some of my plugin that I can’t use anymore, as it’s said an error-2 in the installation process which is frustrating. I’ve hold some of my work because of this and still couldn’t figure out the issue even after follow up some tips on the community notes. This update is the worst after using the adobe service for years, which is sucks.

Exact same problems and work-arounds this end. Running Mac Tahoe 26.5.1. Problem has only surfaced in the last month or so, but it’s becoming quite a time-waster.

    Hi @Danni Jones,

Thanks for sharing these details. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when updates keep failing midway while fresh installs work fine.

Based on what you’ve described, this appears to be related to the Creative Cloud updater process getting stuck.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this:

Let us know how it goes.

Alright, I founded the resolve problem on my way is
    1.Open finder and press COMMAND+SHIPT+ G
    2. put this ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/  and enter
    3. Find folder name is OOBE and rename to OOBE_old
    4. Restart your mac
    5. Open your creative cloud
    6. Done

first try resetting the cc app:

To reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press: Win: Ctrl + Alt + R Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

OK … well, my previous updating adventure for LRC and ACR were executed as expected BUT … today’s updating of ID, not so much … as it stalled out again.

What’s strange is, that this time, after I closed down CC and then rebooted my computer … I went back into CC and ID was still showing up as needing the update.

My previous (failed) updating experiences, CC did not show the applications installed after I rebooted. So I had to reinstall the entire application (PS, PP, etc...) but it did include the updates.

Strange. Oh well, there are worse things in life to deal with. As long as I can somehow get it to work is all that really matters. But at the same time, it would be nice to not have to go through all the work-arounds.

Maybe Adobe should run Anthropic’s Mythos to find the issue.

OK … today I successfully updated LRC (v 15.3.1) and ACR (v 18.3.2) with none of the issues that I mentioned originally. Amazing!!!

Hopefully, it will continue like this for all future updates.🙏

The same thing has been happening to me for several months. Everything exactly as you mentioned. It is desperate to be like this and that the constant solution is not to update the applications or uninstall and install with everything it implies.

did you try resetting your app when the problem occurs.

first try, resetting the cc app: To reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press: Win: Ctrl + Alt + R Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

if that fails to resolve the issue, try a repair by using the cc desktop app uninstaller/repairer - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/manage-apps/creative-cloud-desktop-app/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

Thank you for your reply and link.

The whole point of this, is that I should not have to do this as everything was working just fine months before.

And I had it running on both a Win10 and MacOS computers (not at the same time of course).

I’ve already figured out what to do to get things “sorted out and running properly” as I stated in my original post. But, as I just stated, I should not have to do this (or your solution that you provided) as the update process was performing just fine months ago.

    Thanks again!!!
