Unbelievable how this is still an issue after many versions. I created 120 x 120 rectangles and separated them with a 30 px distance. The result? .0001 px in position and .0002 px added to size at the end. Can't understand what kind of math AI does to mess up a rounded result.  

Hi there.. Is there a way of combining individual text boxes into one text box in Illustrator (25.2)? Have to edit a file from PDF format and some of the text boxes split up after opening. Thanks!

Illustrator seems to have issues with maintaining layer comp visibility in placed objects (multiple versions placed within same file) when the original file is amended. i.e. PSD files with layer comps placed into Illustrator, each referencing a different layer comp. PSD file amended and all instances in Illustrator default to current photoshop state. From there they need reimporting (relinking) and the layer comp to be reselected.Here's the process:- Photoshop file with layer comps used to define a number of possible different states of the file.- Placed instance 1 with Layer Comp A in Illustrator with "Keep overrides" checked.- Placed instance 2 with Layer Comp B in Illustrator with "Keep overrides" checked.All good so far.- Return to Photoshop file and amend something.- The result is that both instances in Illustrator default to the current state of the Photoshop document.There is then no way of viewing the layer comp list from the placed PSD to subsequently change it to the desired

Hi, Im trying to use the Inflate (3D and Materials) effect with this rainbow, however I need it to inflate as 1 object instead of 7 little noodle-looking ones. Anybody know how I can do this? It seems I need to make the rainbow seen as 1 object by Illustrator, however I can't figure out how to do this. I've tried a clipping mask and that didn't work. Not happy with the automatic font activation nastiness, Adobe goes a step forward with its production-damaging features, now inducing you to Save to Creative Cloud by default, by removing the (command+S) shortcut and forcing users to manually click the ‘On your computer’ button. How arrogant is that?Did anyone find a way to deactivate this absurdity?

i was wondering if anyone can help me. all of a sudden a chrome extension that allowed me to open illustrator files from google drive is now gone. I used to use the "open with" illustrator from drive, so i wouldn't have to download files. but i cannot do so anymore, hopefully there is a quick solution!

I have an AI file with a "Template" layer that used to be ignored whenever I exported the file to a JPG.This feature is no longer working correctly as now the exports are including data from this layer.Has this feature changed somehow and I'm not using it correctly or is this a bug that requires fixing. Ver 29.3.1

Helly community, maybe someone here can help me, because I just canÄt find an answer anywhere else on the web.I have a CC library with color swatches of a company styleguide. When I colorize objects in Illustrator everything works, but the colors are not connected or updated from the CC library. So when I update the library colors, nothing changes in the illustrator document.I also can't drag an drop colors from the CC library panel onto the document objects or edit the colors from the panel (have to go into PS for that).I could copy all my colors from the CC library to my local swatches, losing all the names, but that somehow misses the point of having the colors in the cloud.Am I missing something here?

Hi!I'm creating a decal that will fill a 41' x 9.8' wall space. It will be at the very top of the wall (I estimate the ceilings to be around 20-25"). Obviously this goes beyond the maximum artboard size for Illustrator. Would you:1. Create the artwork at size and just expand it past the artboard?2. Create the artwork at a 25% or 50% scale.3. Create the artwork at size in separate files. Lastly, depending upon the chosen option, would you:1. Create it in 150 DPI.2. Create it in 300 DPI so that the printer has the option to scale down.3. Create it in an even larger DPI.

I have gaussian blur that has box around it. I have searched the post and it was suggested that increasing area in effect - document raster effects or checking anti-alias box fixed the issues, but it did not work for me/ Any ideas how to fix it? It appears to be an issue in newer versions of illustrator and it's pretty annoying. Thank you

Can anyone please tell me how to edit the XMP Packet, while inside of Illustrator, without using FileInfo?   I am writing a Flex PatchPanel Extension, so need access to some DOM parameter like XMPString to change the packet.  XMPString does not say it is READ ONLY in the reference manual -- but does not let me change it -- unless I am doing something wrong.Thanks for any suggestion.

Hi everybody, it’s probably something really obvious but my arrow tool, the black one, is behaving very strangely. Whenever you click on a shape it is splitting it. You get a little white rectangle icon next to the black arrow. When you click on text fields duplicates it. Clicking on certain shapes divides it (if they are overlapping other shapes) so when you delete it only part of it disappears! I don’t know what is going on! Can anybody help? Thanks.

Bonjour,J'utilise pas mal la fonction d'enregistrement des plans de travail sur les fichiers .ai (donc enregistrer sous / en .ai / cocher "enregistrer les plans de travail dans des fichiers séparés"), et je suis tomber sur un énorme bug : dans mes fichiers ainsi obtenu, certains calques (qui ne l'étaient pas) ont été masqués à l'enregistrement et d'autres (qui étaient masqués) se sont afficher ...Vous imaginez sans mal le problème au final.Le truc est que dans mon fichier original, le calque au-dessus était masqué (0) , les 2 suivants étaient affichés (11), et les 3 du dessous étaient masqués(000). Et je me suis retrouvé avec la même "suite logique" d'affichage (01100) mais avec un calque en moins, le premier, car il n'y avait rien sur ce calque et l'enregistrement par page l'a juste supprimé pour optimisation.Et donc l'affichage des calques qui a gardé la suite logique s'est retrouvé décalée ...La solution a été simple : garder les calques masqués en dessous de ceux qui sont affi

Illustrator 27.3.1 (Windows)A plugin error comes up when Illustrator is launched. It turns out this plugin resides in C:\Vision Pro 9 which is the installation folder for a different software package that runs a CNC machine. First of all, why is Illustrator even attempting to load plugins from this folder in the first place? If I rename IlluToSignlab32.aip to IlluToSignlab32.aip.DISABLE, effectively hiding it, Illustrator won't even launch.Clicking Ok and relaunching gives the option to Run Diagnostics (i.e. Safe Mode). While launching in Safe Mode the same unknown error dialog box comes up and Illustrator still won't launch. Any subsequent launches just bring up the same unknown error dialog box. So Safe Mode is basically useless in this case. On further testing if I don't rename the plugin but instead move it to the desktop, Illustrator still tries to load it from the desktop. I have a document with some large images that suddenly switches my view to CPU Preview shortly after opening, or sometimes when zooming. It'll freeze for a moment before switching to CPU, and GPU Preview will be greyed out. I was able to fix this temporarily by switching to Outline, saving, then closing and reopening the file, but it keeps happening regardless. Does anyone know what's causing this, or how to fix it?

Hi there people. I have a problem or more like something that i dont do right because im still learning... Anyway, the problem is : i want to make a card and print it. I have a .ai file from a friend of mine where i want to put a part of it in my card. Picture 1 : the original color from my friends .ai file.Picture 2 is when i put it in my .ai file, convert in pdf, run it trough destiller and bam... the color is gray .... and the weight becomes white. Somehow i cant find anyting on the subject... Have been searching for 3 days now ... Thanks in advance!Cheers.  

I'm working on an art project and trying to get it by a deadline, however, I seem to be coming across a certain problem that I have not been able to find a solution for.As you know the "line" option for the freform gradient acts like the curvature tool, and I use alt click alot to manuvre it. But when I stop working and reopen my file those sharp points I made turn into curves and I get a prompt saying that the color stops cannot be "edited, move, or deleted" because it would cause lines to intersect. What's confusing is why this is happening in the first place and I'm hoping there is a solution to this that doesn't involve me having to nuke the object and re-apply not just the gradient but the lines and colors.Please send help asap 

Just updated to 2025 Illustrator and now none of the versions I have will work? Also was having trouble with the Save function (hence the update)?

I have received a lot of .ai files from a client, and I was wondering if it possible to merge these files as artboards in a single illustrator file, the files I have are not pdf-compatible, so I cannot use the merge function from acrobat.I am using CS5, but perhaps it is also possible with CS4?

I know there a couple of posts about this, and there seems to be no simple way for the user to check the performance (And there should be...). But it's simple for other software, you can run Cinebench, Geekbench, or simply do time comparisons in render time. It's a bit harder with Illustrator because it's static. So mostly we're measuring how long it took to navigate around the screen. And I don't know if it was slow because it's taking a long time, reading, writing or rendering. To explain better:I need to upgrade 15 computers, so it would be nice to have something to compare the current situation, where is the bottle neck or perfomance issues: cpu, gpu, ram, drive speed?Does anyone have some sort of routine, maybe scripts or actions or a way they check it.

This has been driving me crazy!!! Im trying to make a mockup of a belt and in order to do so I needed to make holes inside the rectangle to show where the clasp goes. ISSUE IS no matter what I do to create those holes (wether its the shape builder tool or the pathfinder or even recreating the shape entirely) EXTRUDE AND BEVEL IGNORES THEM AND ESSENTIALLY JUST GIVES ME A RECTANGLE AS IF THOSE HOLES WERE NEVER THERE. Can someone please tell me what I Gotta do because I already updated illustrator, restarted it, expanded the shape, tried to see if it ignores other random shapes with holes (which magically it doesnt it only has an issue with this belt), etc.

The pen tool seems to have a mind of its own.the anchor point is about 5mm away from the point selectedAll snap to options are turned off

I created an arts resume in 2023 and now and returning to edit it but I can only edit heading and not body text when using the ediitng tool. I don't remember what I did and have been away from Adobe software for some time. Any suggestions?
