How edit multiples words in a paragraph

Another possible approach:

A script that can record your text selections with a Start and a Stop button. A third button that erases all recorded text selections.

Another script that applies format changes to the saved selections.

Both scripts must be developed; I'm not aware that scripts like that are already written.

Could be that it will cost some days for development and testing if it should work for all open documents and also drop selections from the record if a document is closed or changed ( text is edited, removed or added ).

I think, the next best thing you can do is using the Eyedropper Tool.

Pick up text formatting and apply it to every selection of text you are doing without changing the tool.

While it may not be exactly what you are looking for, creating Character styles with a keyboard shortcut assigned to each one would speed up your process. You could select a word, hit the shortcut, and then quickly select the next word that needed styling.

If what you are talking about is non-contiguous selections of words, that is not an option that InDesign has. If it was always a certain list of words that needed this treatment, you could use GREP styles to automate the task.

I mean change different words, titles, names of people watered by a whole paragraph, select them and change them to any style, without having to touch them one by one. This sounds lot like a use case for FindChangeByList sample script shipped with InDesign. The basic idea is that we create a list of find/change instructions in a text file, and then the script executes eack of those find/changes mentioned in the txt file on the InDesign document.

You can playaround with the sample to make it work. In short if you are able to achieve what you are trying to do using Find/Change dialog multiple times, then this script will percfectly work for you and make multiple changes with just a click of a button

In the scripts panel look for FindChangeByList.jsx and next to it will be a folder FindChangeSupport that has the text file FindChangeList.txt where you need to add the input for Find/Change, this text file also has instructions on how to add new find/change instruction in it
