Lightroom 2.0 will not export to Photoshop CS3

OK,

So I downloaded and installed lightroom 2.0 this morning and things are not working well.

System: Macpro 2.8, 8 gb ram, os x 10.5.4, nikon d300 raw files

The problem...

It started with Lightroom not exporting any images to photoshop. Doesn't matter if I try to send 1 or 20, I get a spinning beach ball, then nothing. if photoshop is closed it will open it, but nothing gets loaded into it. Plain export, merge to panoramic, edit as smart object, nothing does anything.

Tried in both 32 and 64 bit modes, tried re-installing Lightroom 2.0 from scratch. still nothing. I sent a sample raw file into adobe and am waiting to hear back, but figured I'd see what everyone else thinks as well.

I am having issue 1 and checked the System Info page as suggested, and the ScriptingSupport reads v10.0 despite Adobe Photoshop Version: 10.0.1, so I applied the patch as suggested and the ScriptingSupport now reads 10.0.1 but no improvement in opening images in PS CS3. I did notice that if I select edit original or edit copy, they will open in cs3. However, edit with light room adjustments will not. I am ready to uninstall and reinstall cs3. Should I do this next?

Hi, I applied the 10.0.1 patch and now Lightroom 2.0 will send files to Photoshop CS3. But I still have another problem that I'm not seeing mentioned. I can't export files. If I click the export button or go to File / Export --> Lightroom freezes up. I end up having to use Task Manager to kill the App. (I'm running Vista 32 by the way.)

You need to update PS to 10.0.1.

Did removing the apostrophe resolve the issue of the ghost folder or just sending the image to CS3??

If the latter, how does one remove the apostrophe? I have one in my catalog name. But, I am able to send to CS3, just have the ghost folder problem.

    Windows XP SP2, btw.

    Thanks!

    Hello Kevin Tieskotter,

You seem to have helped a number of people with problems similar to mine, vis a vis editing RAW images in Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom 2, but my problem is slightly different than those you tackled above, so here goes... The Edit in Photoshop CS3 functionality works fine on my two Macs, on a Power PC and the other an Intel Mac, and the edited file comes neatly back to be stacked with the original in Lightroom. But in the original Edit in... command menu list, everything below the Edit in CS3 is greyed out and unavailable, such as open as a smart object, and most important for me, the merge to Panorama in Photoshop command. What gives? Any ideas? I am using Leopard, and have put Camera Raw 4.5 in the right spot for Photoshop CS3.

Hope you, Kevin, or some other bright reader of this forum can help me.

I just tried removing the apostrophe. Macintosh OS 10.5.4.

It seems to have resolved the issues.

    Hi Paul,

It's unclear at the moment why the updater isn't updating all the components of Photoshop. You could try rebooting the machine and immediately applying the updater, hoping that maybe some of the files were already open when the updater ran before.

Otherwise, at the moment the only thing I know of that may help would be a complete uninstall and reinstall of Photoshop, followed by the patcher again.

    Kevin:

Just in case you didn't pick up on it: The "real" volume has an uppercase drive letter. The "phantom" drive letter is lower case. Apparently LightRoom is seeing them as different.

I am running XP x64 and the 64bit version of LR2. I am having issue 1 and checked the System Info page as suggested, and the ScriptingSupport reads v10.0 despite Adobe Photoshop Version: 10.0.1, so I applied the patch as suggested and the ScriptingSupport still reads 10.0 and no improvement in opening images in PS CS3. If I add photoshop as a secondary editor, it opens fine with the old style dialog, so I have a work around, but the new functionality doesn't work.

I loom forward to the outcome of investigations and to this getting fixed!

If I can check/provide any evidence/info then I will gladly do this.

    Thanks, Paul A

jj.pod, you hit the nail on the head for me as the root folder of my photos contains an apostrophe. Removing this worked but it would mean that I have to re-import all my photos as LR obviously loses the plot and can't find them any more with the original db. LR1.41 which was the last one I used, didn't have any problems with it.

However, for me this also introduces the second problem of the duplicate folder.

P.S. Re patched CS3 and the patch is showing correctly in system info. Tried all other suggestions including reinstalling CR 4.5, new catalogue, re importing, bit depth set to 8 but no results.
