Since updating throughout Creative Cloud" a couple of hours ago, I get "Develop Module Disabled, please renew your membership" with Lightroom 5.5 while all other programmes work fine. My membership is up to date and paid in advance! What do I do?

Hello All,

If you are having this issue still please try the following troubleshooting steps.

Solution 1: Sign out of Lightroom 5.5 and then sign back in with your Adobe ID.

Solution 2:

Set permission to SLStore & SLCache Folder ::

NOTE: Perform this procedure two times, once each for the SLCache and the SLStore folders.

Mac:

  • Use the Finder to navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore or Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore.
  • Control-click the folder and choose Get Info.
  • Expand the Sharing & Permissions section.
  • Click the lock icon in the lower-right corner. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted, and then click OK.
  • Set permissions:

System: read/write

Admin: read/write

Everyone: read/write

  • Click the Gear icon, and select Apply to Enclosed Item. Close the Get Info dialog box.

Win 7/ Win 8:

SLStore :: ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
SLCache::

Win 32 bit: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

Win 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

  • In File Explorer, right-click the SLCache or the SLStore folder and choose Properties.
  • Click the Security tab and set permissions:

Administrators: Full Control

Power Users: Everything but Full Control and Special

System: Full Control

Users: Read and Special

  • Click Advanced, and, if asked, accept the User Account Control (UAC)elevation prompt.
  • Click the Owner tab, select Administrators, and click Edit.
  • Select Replace Owner on Subcontainers and Objects. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Click the Permissions tab and click Change Permissions.
  • Select Replace all Child Object Permissions with Inheritable Permissions from this Object. Click OK, and then click Yes.
  • Click OK, and then click OK again in the Windows Security dialog box. Click OK to close the Advanced Security Settings dialog box.

Suggestion 2: Rename the SLCache folder and re-launch Lightroom 5.5

Bad, bad, bad Adobe!

All my workflow is totally ruined. I had Lightroom installed on two Mac laptops: home and office. Now at home Lightroom just doesn't start while at the office it says that develop module is disabled.

I am incredibly angry as I cannot do anything and all the suggested steps did not help to resolve it.

In my case it was that somehow I no longer had the photoshop / lightroom deal. So I had to have them cancel my subscription and then resubscribe. Then I had to follow the instructions I sent above.

Support also told me that some people's user credentials were no longer working, might ask about that as well.

The permissions fix in that Adobe article didn't make any difference for me.

I deleted the SLStore & SLCache folders from the library and that has fixed it. After this I opened LR - it prompted me to sign in to CC, and returned a message along the lines of LR is now licenced to my account and got my develop module back.

REINSTALL LR 5.4   5.5 Not a working product.

SEEMS that ADOBE Quality Control is on par with Microsoft.

I have same problem with Cloud I have to go and delete a file constantly  OOBA.dba  Why is that?

Just finished an hour long session with a helpful chap on Adobe technical helpcalled Raghavendra.

Basically after many things it boiled down to the following:

Make sure you have a backup of the catalog before trying this.

Make sure Lightroom is not currently running

1. Sign out of the creative cloud by going to the preferences and sign out.

2. Goto finder and to the following folder //Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SL Store folder.

3. Delete the files inside this folder.

4. then look for the //Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SL Cache folder.

5. Delete all the files inside this folder.

6. Empty your trash

7. Launch Lightroom

8. You will be asked to sign in again.  Do this and hopefully as it was with me, all will be back and working.

9.  You can then sign back into creative cloud on your task bar

I hope this helps others in the same predicament.

I had a virtually identical session with Raghavendra too, only slight difference was to click Not my ID when doing step 8 so as to fully reenter id and password.

All sorted.

Same problem here on Mac too. If I log out from CC and empty the SLCache folder I'm able to launch my LR catalog with develop module working - one time only. Once I've closed the catalog file and I reopen it, the problem reappears. Adobe, please fix this quickly.

Thanks for the feedback all, apologies for the trouble with the update.

What if you try the suggestion provided earlier (post 9) by downloading via the FTP link, rather than installing via Creative Cloud Desktop App?

Links for both Mac and Win can be found here: Lightroom 5.5 now available

Perhaps you could get a solution rather than a guess as to what will really solve the problem?

This has been a huge time suck for me today. Time I cannot afford to lose.

I have wasted 4 hours on this problem so far. 3 of them with the technical support people having no idea what the issue was and insisting I had the wrong license in spite of me providing my license keys to them.

A definitive answer as to what is going on would be very much appreciated

Same with me on Mac.  Thank you Adobe again for another mess of an update.  Cant believe this wasn't captured in beta testing.  So no Lightroom capabilities until they figure out a fix.  Getting bored with this now.

Yes, sounds like most have figured out a solution here.

Sign out of the Creative Cloud application, then Sign back into it.  Steps with screenshots here: Sign out, Sign in | Creative Cloud Desktop app

Alternatively, try signing out, or signing into Lightroom 5.5 from the Help > Sign In option.

That could be another possible solution.

If neither of those two steps work, definitely try the steps listed in the Document Mandhir has suggested.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Pete

On my Mac the SLCache and SLStore already have Read/Write access.

Have uninstalled LR5 and reinstalled from CC app, to no avail.

My LR5 doesn't have Sign-in option on the Help menu.

Any ideas how to sort it on a mac?

I signed out of CC, restarted machine.  Got a splash screen offering 30 day trial or sign-in to CC so I signed in and it worked.  For about 5 mins.  Restarted LR and Develop is disabled again

Same thing happened to me. It worked for a few minutes, then POW… back to disabled. Frustrating!

Just had help with this from support.  They had me log out of the creative cloud app and close LR.  Then they had me remove all the files in the following folder (I backed them up to the desktop in another folder)

'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe SLCache folder'

I restarted LR and it asked me to sign in and then worked fine.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm now back in business and can attempt to catch up on my work!

I don't often complain about things but this situation has really annoyed me. Considering how critical Lightroom is to my workflow now I pretty much cannot do anything without it and problems like this bring my entire business to a halt. It would be OK if Adobe were easier to contact and provided support commensurate with the amount of money we are paying them.

I don't mind the subscription system but it has to be flawless in order to work. Any issues should not completely stop you from getting your work done - if there's a problem you should at least get some time to work offline until the problems are resolved.

If there was any other software which could do a similar job then I would seriously be considering it after today's debacle!

Same problem. Win 7

After installation, from creative cloud panel, I successfully started Lightroom and did one edit, uploaded it to Flickr from Lightroom. Exited program and was gone for an hour or so, then I get this.

Renewal is in end of August.

Direct download didn't work for me. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling from CC and still doesn't work
