Restoring Lightroom CC cloud library from local backup

Hello,

I recently migrated my catalog from Lightroom classic cc to the new Lightroom CC and there is no longer any sync between the two. However, I have one concern. If my cloud library becomes corrupted, I am not sure if there is a way to restore it from a local back up.

I understand that I can find a local copy of the Lightroom cc library file  on my hard disk drive, and I also understand that I can find local copies of all originals if I select this option in Lightroom cc, but what I am not sure is how I can use these local copies to restore corrupted copies of photos and/or the entire library containing edits by overriding the cloud version of the library.

Is there way to do this?

If not, I think it is a major flaw. It is not unreasonable to think that a library can become corrupted. There should be a way to restore a library from a local copy.

    Even if you have elected to 'store all originals locally', these will just mirror what is in the Cloud (i.e if you deleted one from the cloud it would be removed from your chosen location also) as what's in the Cloud takes precedent.

    You best bet may to be to have your own local copy independently, or turn sync to Classic back on and let new photos imported into CC sync down to Classic. This however isn't advised by Adobe and although a few experienced users do it, can have its pitfalls.

    I would imagine there is more chance of accidental deletion from the Cloud rather than corruption (bar incomplete syncing), so I do think a Trash feature is essential.

    You are right. But that is not my question.

    I know that the local copy is a mirror.

    I want to know if I can use A local copy (i.e. an archived version of Lightroom CC's local copy that I keep on a seperate disk) to override the corrupted or incomplete cloud version, should this occur. In other words, I know how to make a local backup. But I want to know if this local backup can then be used to replace the cloud version in time of need.

    I don't think anyone here can help with that question, you'd need to post it to Adobe directly using the feedback site: Lightroom CC for Desktop | Photoshop Family Customer Community

    My expectation would be for Adobe to say that restoring a user's cloud catalog from a local backup would be unnecessary (because Adobe should be maintaining backups of both images and catalogs on their own servers) and maybe even impractical (as I suspect the "catalog" on the Adobe servers is more comprehensive that the local versions, given that it may need to "manage" the local content on multiple different devices).

    But certainly no harm in asking them....
