I'm doing testing with AMS 5 on a virtual server.I'm wondering, though... the hardware requirements page I've seen for AMS doesn't mention anything about using virtual servers.Does Adobe have a statement on appropriate hardware/resources for running AMS 5 on a virtual server environment?

this is my issues below:I connected to a pear  to play a rtmfp video stream, and I want to save the stream in the FMS .I think there are 2 way to handle that:1,save the stream in my local file system,and send the file to the server.(is it possible??)2, create a new connection(connected to FMS with rtmp) and  a netStream to attach the video stream,and publish to FMS.how can i make that work?? Any suggestions will be  appreciated

Well after all , thank you for your forum, here we go.I was looking for about weeks to find the solution but now im stuck, even on your forum i didnt find enough informations about what i'm looking for. Ok , Whats My probleme? Well I need to restream an RTMP,but no informations available or far away from what i want.If i do have controle of the RTMP link? No (but its only for education) so i want to perform into.Im jalouse that wowza community they offer this solution to their users even if you dont have any controle of the server , you need only the link of the rtmp and the playpath and put them into rtmp.streamSo i would like to get some more informations on how it works with FMS 4 Thank You , sorry for my english. a Frensh guy here

Hello, I am new to Flash. I have recently installed FMIS 3.5.3. In checking the access logs I find data in both logs that display the same stream stop and stream play time . I'm not sure why the time is the same (00:19:27 example below). Videos play fine when testing from work (T3 connection). I use Amazon CloudFront with Adobe FMS for live-streaming.I need to do on-demand video cutting from the live stream.For example the video stream is 2 hours. I need to create a FWS-event by PHP, which will start recording stream to file from 32-d to 45-th minute.How to do it?Is the right way to to manage event.xml, application.xml and/or manifest.xml by PHP in real-time?If it isn't, is it possible to make a kind of "record shedule"?Thank you.

Hello Flash Family,This is my first post and i hope i am doing this right....but i am having a serious issue with finding my RTMP address which may be something very simple to you all out there, i just installed Flash Media Server 3.5 at C:Program Files....i have purchased a video flash chat program and it needs to know the rtmp address which im not sure.  I named the Flash Server EazyFlash.....not sure if i should install flash server somewhere else on server so website can see it???  The flash console and sample videos are working great but its all C: Drive???  would it be RTMP://EazyFlash???  The software came with flash application which was a folder called videoflashchat which i copied to applications folder. I need some help i am a bit of a novice. I have installed Flash Media Development Server 4.5  In the FMS directory i created a new  folder called exampleTest. In Flash CS6  i wrote just  a few lines of code trying to connect exampleTest up however the connection It failed. In the output panel i got... error #2044 unandled NetStatusEvent:. level=error, code NetConnection.Connect.Rejected at untitled_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()I dont think this is a firewall issue. I think my UDP port 1935 is open.  I am not sure what has caused this error.This is a little frustrating so if you can offer advice to fix this that just be great! Thanks

Good evening.I would like to ask you for a little help with solving following issue. We've been running AMS_5_0_1_r1076 for last three days with almost no traffic - server has been deployed just for a testing purpose and only developers has been accessing to this running instance. For some weird reason is the running AMS server always shutting down at about ~20 min after last client connection to "live stream application" has been closed. We use standard live app that is distributed with the AMS. I know there is some configuration parameter that influences maximum application idle time before it is undeployed from the server, therefore I've changed this value in Application.xml as you can see below. Hello,I wanted to stream my monitor to the FMS which I did quite easily (using FMLE and UScreenCapture device driver).The only problem was that there was a 5 seconds lag between my monitor and the video displayed in FMS.My goal is to be able to remotely play using FMS and the lag should be (<1 second).What I don't understand is where is the problem? whats giving me lag? (FMLE, FMS or UScreenCapture) since this server is localy, there shouldn't be any lag at all.Anyone else had this issue?EDIT: I also tried using FFSplit (which means no FMLE and no UScreenCapture) and that gave me a 5 seconds lag aswell.Makes me wonder even more if the problem is with live video encoding or the server itself

If I have 10 multicast streams going to flash media server how should I configure Group name and stream names ? Each stream will be watched by a different set of people but pushed to same FMS . Should giving each stream a seperate name and seperate stream name will be fine ?Thanks

FMS installation comes with configurator and I know it can be implemented in actionscript as well . But I need a way to implement in java as there is some backend process that I need to run to create stream url and manifest file . Is it possible ?

Does anybody know what the log rotation setup is for the default Apache installed by FMS?In the documentation it states that FMS will look after log rotation for Apache. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f29260bd-7ffa.html"Flash Media Server handles log rotation for the Apache logs."In a default install this does not appear to be the case. My /opt/adobe/fms/Apache2.2/logs/access_log is just one big file, ever increasing in size from teh day it was installed. Restarting fms or Apache does not seem to do anything. I have some log files several years old, and they have never rotated. Any ideas what is meant to happen here?

I have tried installinf FMS 4.0.2 on RHEL/CentOS 6 with no luck.The installer complains about missing libcap. When I supress the check the installer warns about installation on an unsupported O/S.Unfortunately, I can't it to work on CentOS 5. When I try to login into the Admin Console to manage the Server using mydomaine.com:1111/fms_adminConsole.swf or .htm it shows an XML error message. In the same time I'm able to stream to the Server without any problem. Both ports 1111 and 1935 are opened. The Server is installed on a Centos-Linux Based VPS. . I choose Nobody as user when installing it. Hello, I face a rather odd issue with the vhost on AMS Std. Whenever I try to change the signed vod app’s Application.xml <Streams> tag to point to alternative media location, I get this message:Tue 07:24:51 PM: Invalid configuration file : {path}\vod\Application.xmlInside the <Streams> tag I change the path to a physical one, not the one with the pound sign. Either way, I get the same message back. Moreover, when trying to modify ams.ini with the custom path, I get an error message as well. The <Streams> tag in Vhost.xml is blank. It turns out that the signed app can only digest _defaultVHost_ paths. How could this be resolved?Thanks.

HelloI am experiencing occasional odd behavior on packaged content. Sometimes, when playing a stream, the player completely stalls on a fragment. Manually skipping forward a minute solves the stall and the player continues playing the stream. I see this behavior in several different players (pure OSMF Strobe, as well as mpx thePlatform's player) across multiple OS and Flash 10.x and 11.x runtimes.If I take the same input .mp4 files (I use multiple bitrates) and repackage, using the exact same f4fpackager command, I often get an output that is playable. I have tried with v4.5.1 and v5 of f4fpackager and see the same behavior. There are no errors or warnings thrown during the packaging process.This problem of stalls is a major problem for a VOD service as I now have to manually look through each bitrate and check that it is playable without stalls.I saved two .f4f files: one that fails and one that works. What frame dimensions is everyone using out in the real world for encoding and streaming 4:3 aspect video?Would 512x384 be too CPU/bandwidth intensive for average broadband users with 1.5MB downstream and a mid range laptop/PC?I was looking at 384x288, 448x336, or 512x384 and wanted to get some recommedations on what would work best for most users.Thanks!

In order to avoid third parties to access video streams of our web site and for security purposes, we did apply restrictions. We added related restrictions to allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt files so that FMS accepts requests only coming from our domain. The system in its current form works fine for us.Currently, we are developing an application and this application will run on client computers. So, we would like to use SWFverification to indicate that the application is reliable for us and we should allow the client app to publish our video streams. In this sense, we would like to allow requests not only coming from our domain, but also from the allowed client app which we verified by SWFverification. We have been helping a customer to develop a web based system built around Flash media server. For our work we have used the developer edition. Things are going well and now our customer is now looking to go live and so wants to purchase a full media server license, however we are not sure which particular license they should purchase, either Standard or Professional ?From looking at the product specification it would appear standard would seem to be the one but we make use of action script to create custom “applications” on the FMS server, some of which are used to record the session and the specification about what is available in professional isn't totally clear. Finally is possible to upgrade from standard to professional at a later date if we end up picking the wrong one by mistake?

I will be pushing a live stream from wowza to FMS . Wowza will already have added cuepoints when stream is pushed . Will FMS maintain those cuepoints ? FMS will IP multicast that stream . I am using cuepoints in player .
