Line Tool - Photoshop 2021

This is a very important tool I use and it appears to be broken.  Why would you take away a basic tool?

Any other work arounds to draw a simple line on an image.  I do lots of exploded views of parts and drawing lines in photoshop was such a quick and easy task.  Why change it?

In Photoshop 22.3.0 this issue appears to be rectified. (But the Pen Tool seems to be afflicted with other issues …)

    That sounds a bit reproachful to me so let me ask: Did you do a Forum Search before posting? 

    That will not get you a proper answer as to the »why«, I guess, as this is a user Forum, but how many threads on these changes do there need to be? (I suspect the changes may have been inadvertent, by the way.)

    What exactly do you use this Tool for? 

    A simple line can easily be drawn with the Brush Tool (and Pencil Tool …) by clicking two points with the shift key pressed. 

    The Line Tool can still be used to create Shape Layers with a Stroke, just set the indended stroke width and a middle alignment before using the Tool.

    I know there is usually several ways to do the same thing in Photoshop.  When you are doing a quick and simple job, the easy button is always best.  Using the line tool was quick and easy way to finish up these exploded view drawings.

     

    I looked for a way to reach out to Adobe and thought posting here would get the message to them, I see now this is not the place.

     

    Thanks for the details on work arounds and other options.  I got it done but it was just easier for me the old way.  Draw a simple line, adjust the weight and done.

     

    I'll hold out hope they bring the functions back in an update.
