Since yesterday's update, can´t even open a jpg file. Always says: Could not complete your request because of a program error. I need to work.

Hi all,

05/20 update: We have resolved another program error issue while dragging assets from libraries to the artboard in Photoshop 22.4.1 update. Could you please update Photoshop to the 22.4.1 version via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app and let us know your feedback.

Here's how you update Photoshop to its latest version: Update Creative Cloud apps

Thanks,

Mohit

Annnd, I can't even close the program (yes I disabled the graphics processor).
Windows 10, I have to close Photoshop in Task Manager... ridiculous

How do you disable the graphics processor? My LG Gram is only 8 months old and I can't open files or close the program. I've never had to do that.

In PS, go to Preferences/Performance/ then switch off GPU.

It helps some people, but not all. They're delighted just to be able to USE the program again, but it's just a hack workaround - disables stuff like scrubby zoom, makes the program run slower, and the fancy new AI squibs won't be usuble (the whole point of the upgrade, in other words). 50% chance at best this will work for you, but again, a crude workaround.

Hi all,

Sorry for the trouble with Program Errors in Photoshop 22.0. Our team is currently investigating this issue. In many cases, this Program Error shows on systems with older graphics cards. Since the GPU requirements increased with Photoshop 22.0, older graphics cards may not be supported. If your graphics card is not supported, you can disable it from Photoshop’s Performance preferences.

To continue using graphics acceleration, upgrade to a more modern graphics card. For more info on this and other issues, see Known Issues.

Thanks,

Mohit

I have just updated t0 V22.0 and everytime I try to open a new or exisisting project I get the following message

Adobe Photoshop

Could not complete your request because of a programme error.

If I change general settings to " Use Legacy "New Document" Interface" it opens but crashes

Just tried this method again and it is giving the same error message as above

Hello, I had the same problem, turning off the graphics processor in preferences worked for me (my PC is probably 100 years old). Thanks.

Disabled GPU, now i can open old psd and other files, but i can't still create a new file and i can't close PS (generic error display). I need urgently to work now. Can i install previous PS release? If so, can you give me a link that explain how i can do this? Thx!

Photoshop is crashing it's not showing error message for me, it opens but with layers and brushes panel out of whack and I'm unable to do anything with them, when I hover over mininise or any of the selections ( file edit etc ) they disappear, can still click them but things dont work properly files dont open and it ends up crashing.

I can't even get Photoshop to open at all. It just keeps crashing. I'm on a Mac running OS Catalina. I have WORK to do. This is freaking me out. I think I still have 2019 installed on my laptop and may have to use that.

You can install previous working version 21.2 by opening CC Desktop App. Select Photoshop from the list of installed apps. Click on three dots on the right side of the panel. Click on Other versions and install other verison of Photoshop.

FASTED SOLUTION FOUND... I had the same problem here. None of your suggestions worked. I am on an iMac (27-inch, Late 2012) with MacOS High Sierra (v. 10.13.6). I know Apple wants me to upgrade my OS, but I will loose the use crucial apps that will not work on the 64 bit system. The only solution I found was to unistall the recent update, and downgrade to PS ver. 21.2.4. Everything seems to work now. Warning... I lost ALL of my user preferences and had to reset everything! Very, very frustrating that the automatic updater was able to install an update that was not compatible with my computer system.

How do I uninstall the update?

Open Creative Cloud. Select "All apps" from the left hand column. Under "Installed", see Photoshop? Then, look to the right of Photoshop. See "Open"? To the right of "Open", there are 3 little dots. Click on the dots. A menu pops up. Click "Uninstall".  To re-install, do the same thing, and select "other versions" and select the Older version, Photoshop (21.2.4).

I`m having a similar problem. I get a message reading Could not open your file because the file was not found. This is only since I installed the latest update yesterday. What`s going on?

I have the same problem, I see the same message and I already tried to reset the settings. What else can I do?
