Photoshop update to v24.2 fails on my M2 Mac mini and then corrupts my currently installed version (it does not open and displays error saying elements of the app are missing). I had to reinstall v24.1.

Hey Kerry, i do not know when exactly but Photoshop v24.3 it's available at least since yesterday and it's working fine on Mac M2 without rosetta.

if you are trying to install photoshop from Creative Cloud Website, just close your browser and open Creative Cloud Dektop app, try to install photoshop from there

maybe the link on creative cloud website prmpt you to v24.2 installation, don't know.

@JLKiller

understood about rosetta 2 installation, but i don't think you have much choice if you're going to currently use ps.

@JLKiller Sounds like until an M2 native app is available (currently M1) Rosetta 2 may be the only option.

@Kevin Stohlmeyerin my case, i ran into the 183 error before and after doing a whole clean install of macOS Ventura 13.2.1. I didnt have ANY anti-virus software installed nor did i activate the firewall in network settings. actually, right after the initial setup up process, i instantly downloaded creative cloud and tried to install 14.2 photoshop. Therefore, i tried to isolate the problem as much as possible to avoid any software conflicts but still didnt work until i installed Rosetta 2 which a lot of users do not want to do.

Hi @Flawless_Wizard15B9 your entitled to your opinion but if you read the thread there are users confirming successful installs and updates on both M1 and M2 Macs. Me being one of them.

The error 183 tends to be caused by an antivirus software preventing permissions to write resources to the proper directory. I resovled this a long time ago after having the same issue with 2020 CC updates. I switched to another solution and haven't had issues since.

Anyone having the -183 exit error - are you running AntiVirus software on your Mac?

yes, there should, at least, be a warning or informational message about the need for rosetta 2 when installing.

Just my personal opinion - this is an Adobe problem, not an Apple problem.  Apple released the first M1 Mac in November 2020.

you probably need to install rosetta 2.  among the ways to do this is to start Photoshop with the Intel version*.  here are two other ways, How to Install Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon Macs (osxdaily.com)

that's been the solution to a recent surge in mac problems (with new apple silicon macs) caused by premiere pro (and after effects) installs resulting in exit code 183.

there are also the older problems and fixes, https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/fix-error-183.html,

but you should try the rosetta 2 install first, because its absence is most likely the cause of your problem.

*Go to Applications > Photoshop > Open the Photoshop Folder > Click the Photoshop Application within the Photoshop folder
Then hold Control > Get Info > Check the box for Open with Rosetta

Hi @bob28174178nwor your error log confirms an exit 183 error.

Do you have any anti-virus software running? Try disabling it and then installing.
