P: PS v24.2 update fail on Mac M2 - error 183 <edited-kglad>

Photoshop update to v24.2 fails on my M2 Mac mini and then corrupts my currently installed version (it does not open and displays error saying elements of the app are missing). I had to reinstall v24.1.

Hey Kerry, i do not know when exactly but Photoshop v24.3 it's available at least since yesterday and it's working fine on Mac M2 without rosetta.

if you are trying to install photoshop from Creative Cloud Website, just close your browser and open Creative Cloud Dektop app, try to install photoshop from there

maybe the link on creative cloud website prmpt you to v24.2 installation, don't know.

Just spent 4hours on chat with Adobe trying to sort this out. MacBook M1 2021 Monterey 12.6.3 photoshop 24.1.1 was working fine but updated to 24.2 what a nightmare! Got the same message and error 183, then uninstalled and reinstalled 24.1.1 worked fine but advisor then said let's try again should work.... it didn't 24.2 fail. Went back to reinstall 24.1.1 for last time and I can't now, not available. Where has it gone and how can I get it back? I don't really want to install an even older version than I originally had. I'm not techy so this is a nightmare for me as I can't remote share screen with an advisor even. Help please. How can I get 24.1.1 back? Thanks

@Flawless_Wizard15B9 As far as I can google, Photoshop is written in C++. Lua is only used for some parts of Lightroom such as the UI. But I'm not going to pretend I know anything about coding... 😉

I think we can safely assume that the engineers are doing what they can to fix this as quickly as possible. Nobody wants stuff that doesn't work out there

@Flawless_Wizard15B9 your theory doesn't hold water. There are more M2 users that have successfully updated than failures.

This isn't an Apple issue. It's a bad coding and quality control problem that Adobe created. I'm no fan of class action lawsuits. Only the liars… I mean lawyers win

It's well-known within the software development community that Lua tends to be a bit of a resource, pig and problematic when it comes to software development. Just my personal opinion Dash I think it's time for Adobe to look to a more current coding platform for all of their products.

I wonder if a class action lawsuit might wake Adobe up.

Against who - Apple, for changing all the rules everybody else has to play by, every six months? That might be easier to win 😄

@CShubert  - I'm getting the feeling that Adobe isn't going to fix this anytime soon.  There's a lot of Apple Silicon users - like me - that are thinking it's time to dump Adobe because of their continued coding problems.  Part of the problem is Adobe's use of Lua IMHO.  I wonder if a class action lawsuit might wake Adobe up.

Tried to update without success, now getting the message

Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory. Please reinstall the application.

Now can't open PS at all

Any ideas?
