Photoshop keeps closing after ~5 minutes

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a recurring issue where Photoshop 2026 (Windows) consistently crashes about 5 minutes after launching. The app starts normally, I can begin working, but then it either freezes or closes unexpectedly.

I checked the logs and found several repeated errors that seem related to Adobe services rather than a direct Photoshop crash. The most frequent messages include:

  • “User Signed Out”
  • “There is no valid user profile to get an access token”
  • “Error fetching IMS access token”
  • “CCXProcess timed out”
  • “Failed to get data from CCXProcess”
  • “Unable to find user in api.json”

I have also attached two log files for reference in case they help identify the issue more precisely.

What I have already tried:

  • Clearing cache
  • Clearing preferences
  • Checking for updates of my GPU

The issue still persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately you haven't given us any information about your system. Therefore, all proposed solutions are a look into the crystal ball.

    Please decribe your issure also more detailed.

    What you’re trying to do and which result you’re expected? Describe the steps you’re doing so we can try to reproduce. Do you every time the same or similar steps before PS crashes?

    Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into a text file and attach it to your next forum post.

    Do you have send the crash report(s) to Adobe?

    Due to the different error messages I would try a complete and clean reinstallation of the Adobe applications by following the steps below:

    If you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here,    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)
