On Mac: Premiere works but Photoshop won't open

I bought the Mac version of Premiere Elements 2020 and Photoshop Elements 2020 both together, in a discounted bundle. I installed both programs on my Mac. Now Premire will open OK but Photoshop starts to open and shows a message saying "loading workspace" with a pretty little twirling icon, but then nothing happens. I've tried uninstalling, re-installing and even tearing my hair out, but none of those three courses of action has made any difference. Would any kind person who's overcome a similar issue on a Mac please tell me how I can sort this out? Many thanks.
