Organizer and OneDrive

I am using Elements Organizer 15. I have two PC that are running Windows 10. I have place all of my photos in OneDrive. This seems to work quite well, with regard to performance,  as there is a local copy of my cloud based OneDrive photos. By default Organizer places the catalog  in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ElementsOrganizer\Catalogs. I would like to run Organizer on either of my computers so I tried moving the Catalog onto OneDrive. The problem is that the photo locations in Organizer includes the computer name. Hence when I go to my second PC all of the photos cannot be found. It would be nice if Organizer would look in the OneDrive for of the PC in use rather than attempt to find this folder on the other PC.

So the question is: does anyone have a method that solves this issue?

First, the two key points to consider:

1 - you can keep your catolog where you want. The location of the catalog folder is not relevant for your purpose. You can move or copy the catalog folder anywhere, its contents are not changed, including the pointers to the folder location of each file.

2 - You have two different computers, that is two different drives. The catalog holds the identification of your drive in the catalog so that all location as wrong in the other computer.

What can one do to keep both the photo files library and catalogs in sync?

    - The old classical way to backup and restore from an external drive is foolproof but takes al lot of time

    - My usual trick is to edit the sqlite catalog file to update the drive identification. It's prudent to be acquainted with sql editing.

    - I have not tried a possible solution to fool the catalog. That could be done by having your OS change the drive identification and make the internal serial number of both drives the same on both computers.

For more details about the way catalogs store the drive identification, see:

    Michel,

Thank you for your detailed answer that shows a good understanding of the issue. My hope is that there is someway to get Organizer to look for photos in the OneDrive folder of the computer and the user that is in use. It may be that there is some reason why this could not be done. It seems from your answer that it is not a choice at the moment. I have recently tried the reconnect feature, hoping that once I pointed to the OneDrive folder location the time hit would not be too bad. However as I have subfolders Organizer seems to need help finding each of these. This requirement makes this choice unacceptable.

My hope that Adobe should take cloud storage seriously which clearly they are not.

it should be clear guide for using the apps with

    Onedrive ( on-demand )

    Google drive ( stream)

    Dropbox

I have photos on all the three and I use all of them and I am starting to move out of adobe for their disrespect for customers interested.

I can not mention the alternative here to respect the forum guidlines.
