Questions on Photo Books: # of pages, questions marks and disconnects

1) I have made a 78 page photobook and I can no longer open new pages. Have I exceeded the limit? I thought the limit was 100 but may not understand the limit.

2) I also cannot copy and move pages in the project. Could this be related? I try to move page 3 to page 50 and after several minutes of the little wheel turning it takes me back to page 3 where I started.

3) Maybe a separate problem but I keep getting question marks over images--like they're disconnected but when I try to reconnect that doesn't seem to be the problem. To recreate the frame and image,  I have to completely delete the image on one layer, the frame on another and the question mark( which is labeled as text in the layers window)--then have to start from scratch.

4) I have re-constructed several pages and saved--but after working for a while the questions marks keep coming back. Some on the same images and some on other images that have previously been fine.

5) Some of the pages have questions marks super-imposed over the page itself--on the top left.

6) If no one can help me can someone tell me where I can get profession help. I have worked on this project for over 2 years. It's a pictorial history of our family.

I have gone through the organizer, my file system and all the settings that I know about. Everything seems connected as it should--it's when I get to the photo book itself that the problems arise. Please help. I'm 76 and may die before getting this completed for my kids!!

Thank you.

Thank you for continuing to help me. I'm sorry I couldn't answer all your previous questions. I think I have already passed my ability to understand.

You are right there, you probably won't get much help from either the help desk staff or other users; only from members of the team which issued the photobook plugin can tell if it's a matter of correct use of the features or bugs or... both

Before wasting any more of you time, can you tell me if it's possible to get through to the members of the team you mentioned? At this point I'm ready to pay real dollars for someone I can trust that can take remote control of my computer, see what's happening and clear everything up.

I am just another user like you. I have never seen members of those teams answering questions like these on the forum;  I only meant that they are the only one to know for sure.

With all the work you have done, I really think that you can recover the existing pages and reorder them, but for that you have to find where those pages are stored on your Mac.

Other Mac users will probably be able to guide you to the folder where your pages are stored in the .psd layered format.

They wil  find the equivalent of the Windows location (Pictures) with a folder named with [your project name] which contains files named [your project name]-01.psd, ...-02.psd ... etc.

Your previous post about question marks in the process of making a photo book:

Can't reconnect. Question marks will not go away??

    6) If no one can help me can someone tell me where I can get profession help.

What I can suggest is limited because:

    - I don't know anything about Macs

    - I do photobooks without using the photobook process completely in the Expert mode. I prepare all pages with my personal layouts. The result is a layered .psd file for each page. Those pages are stored in an album during the creation process. I can always edit them freely. In the album, I can change the 'custom' sort order as I want. When I am finished, I set the album in custom sort order - I export all my pages in jpeg format in a temporary folder, renaming all files with a common starting text string, like 'alb_001' and so on. I choose any of the various online book printing site and use their own 'uploading' feature.

The questions I did ask in your previous discussion were needed to understand how the photobook feature works when storing pages during your project. In Windows, the pages are stored as individual .psd files in a default Windows folder. If the process is similar in your Mac, you can recover all your pages, edit them individually and work like me to manage them in an album, sort them and export them to a final temporary folder.

    - all your hard work is safe and totally available

    - no limitation on the number of pages from Elements (only from your supplier)

    - you can continue by adding new pages (created manually or with the 'collage' mode)

I believe your question marks are the result of moving pages (bugs or wrong process), they have nothing to do with the question marks created by moving files outside of the catalog. The reconnect function does not apply there.

I hope Mac users will help us to know how your pages are stored in the process.

If you want to continue your book manually, we can help you with other details.
