Copy-Problem by Premiere 24.4.1

Hey! With the new update of Premiere 24.4.1 I have problems with copying clips. I always have to copy the respective clip twice with command + c before it is copied by Premiere. My colleagues have similar experiences. Do you have the same problem and do you know if there is a workaround?

Thank you!

Correct answer MyerPj

I just tried it in the beta 24.6.41 and it worked as expected.

Don't let any of these adobe fan boys/girls make you think you're crazy. the MORON devs at this company are incapable of releasing a product without a myriad of stupid (AND BASIC, TOP LEVEL, FIRST USAGE) bugs. they dont use the software anymore nor do they test it. they dont care. There is clearly a Copy/paste bug. Big time. F adobe. dumb devs, dumber leadership. 10 years of terrible prodcut "innovation" decsions, investments, and design make it almost unusable at this point. if they werent giving me 50% off for threatening to leave id be gone. at full price it's an absolute scam at this point.

BTW: There are two sets of Paste shortcuts, one is for the Application shortcuts and the other is for Timeline specific, that's the ones we are discussing here, so be sure you change the one you want:

Here's the paste option available. If I remember right, Adobe changed the default paste option awhile back and added these paste options so you can use them as you think fit. Whatever works for you is best practices for this one! 😉

Updating that it's working, re-installed and cleared preferences afterwards. Back in business. Had done this on previous versions but not on most recent ones.

Still an issue in most recent version of 24, as well as 25. Cannot copy and paste from separate sequence of mixed media (footage, titles, nests) with any sort of nested footage on the clipboard.

In my testing, last stable version of Premiere without this issue is 24.2.1

This is current as of January 14, 2025. Will continue to check back as new versions are released. A real shame this keeps getting updated as "solved".

I'm missing something, because it still seems to work for me, in PP 25.1 and 25.2.0 b76

I copied a mixed sequence, and pasted to a new sequence. Then I closed the project  opened a new project, created a sequence and pasted. Then I quit the beta, loaded up 25.1 with a new project, created a sequence and pasted, and it still worked?

So what are you seeing, what are you steps to reproduce each time?

@Christian2806487637rg,

Are you running 24.4.1?

I had not seen the "user actions in between" as part of the issue. Great observation.

I am now running 24.5.0 and Beta 24.6.0.37.

I used the intervening action as moving one clip or creating a new text item. Ctrl+C before and Ctrl+V worked in each instance.

Same here:

Copying a clip from a sequence via ctrl+copy (or cut) and pasting it again in the same or different sequence only works as long as there are no other user actions done in between.

Copy clip, then e.g. move other clips in the timeline, then pasting the clip into the timeline from memory does not work anymore.

Very inconvenient as this is a super basic and common use case.

Hello @reali and @ANT.Rose,

Thanks for filing these reports. I have seen something similar where the UI shows a clip is selected, but the function does not work.

I hope the product team will respond to this alarming issue. I will let them know.

Fling a bug report in the following format would be helpful to the team. See: How do I write a bug report?

I hope the team can solve this for you ASAP.

Thanks,
Kevin

Please describe what ctrl-c you are using. In the project panel, timeline, essential graphics. Thanks.
