Question

Importing from Documents Folder

I've noticed something rather odd with the newest update from Premiere. I use my Documents folder on my Mac to organize all my raw footage and store all my file, but when I import video from my Documents folder Premiere shortens the video to anywhere between 5-7 seconds in length and just chops off the rest. If I move the file out of my Documents I can then import it at the regular length but it's a real hassle having to adjust the way I've organized my entire video editing career for one bug. Help.

My first recommendation is to not keep anything on the System drive.  Add a dedicated, internal drive for Projects, another for Cache and Scratch, a third for Media and a fourth for Exports.

it might be this :

if your project is saved on the documents where the footage are then the scratch disks are there as well

and so, the video previews that might contain some damaged preview files are there as well, so deleting

the video previews in the documents folder might be a good idea.

when you open a project on another location, the scratch disks are set to that location and maybe

those video previews do not contain damaged files.

try to clean your media cache as well ... Let us know what happens

either delete the video previews or change the scratch disks location especially that of the video and audio prviews
