Media offline after cc 2017 update plus audio issue

After the premiere pro cc 2017 update I have some issues with clip sequences and audio.

When starting a premiere pro file of the previous version the system says:

"This project has been created with a previous version of Premiere Pro and has to be converted..."

After clicking "OK", all the video sequences are missing. By trying to insert them manually, the audio files of the clips are missing.

I tried to start a new project with different video-clips and the same problems occur again. No audio files are in the project just the video file.

I tried to sign out and sign in to premiere pro following a troubleshooting instruction but it didnt work.

Anyone can help me? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,

Apologies for the Inconvenience.

As stated by Howardj, Please clear the Media Cache & check the audio in the timeline.

So of my 70 or so clips, some rather large in an hour and a half documentary, almost all of them were either unlinked or the Proxie files offline. Worse than that, it does not recognize some of my proxies which worked fine before (Audio must be the same for the proxy as it is for the full Resolution). It is. But PrPro does not know that.

I was hoping my 4k would at least scrub in 1/4 to 1/2 resolution with the new release. How stupid am I!

So I can either wait until tomorrow and chill out tonight while my proxies are recreated overnight and then keep my fingers crossed to see if they will work, or rollback to a less than stellar version.

Thank you Adobe. Please do not charge my CC for last month, this month, and probably next month at this rate. I should be billing Adobe for the hours and hours I have wasted to try to stick with and support their product.

Cheers

Go back to 2015.4, finish project and start fresh in 2017.

Already started blowing this thing away. Good thing I back up every day:

The message below was received with perfectly good video clips that were working fine. And 2017 definately does not like sub-clips.

As much as I could not contain myself and so looking forward to the issues in 2015.4 fixed, I find it harder to believe they released this. Doesn't anyone test anymore?

For those who can't downgrade to the previous version, cause there is no "Find Previous Versions" button in the App:

Click the settings tap in the top right corner and click on "search for updates". (Even if it is up-to-date)

The App will restart and the "Find Previous Versions" button will appear and you can downgrade as Ann described.

I also have the same issue with audio not working. Tried rolling back to previous version. Opened up my project. And the audio isn't working on the older version either? No audio tracks at all. But it's apparently only for old files because when I import a file created after I did the update. I get audio tracks, but then I can't see audio waves..

I can't believe this!

I've got a deadline for tomorrow and NOTHING works with CC 2017!

Media is offline, when relinked the audio is gone and I can't get it back into Premiere.

I can't even install the previous version 2015.3 cause in the Creative Cloud App there is no "Advanced Options" or "Find Previous Versions".

What is going on Adobe?

UPDATE or UPGRADE, could you please specify the next time?

Samariz, the mp3-workaround didn't work for me sadly.

Any solutions to this?

I cannot believe you upgrade just before a deadline.........

Its and upgrade, separate install

If I was you finish in 2015.

How to find previous version (old screendump, look for 2015.3)

Thank you Ann.

I couldn't edit my post, there was an error every time.

After about an hour of searching, restarting the App etc. there was finally the "Find Previous Versions" button, which wasn't there initially. Bug? (Windows 10)

So I've finally got 2015.3 installed again. Jippie.

Next week is another deadline and the week after another. But you're right, the day before truly wasn't the best choice.

I'll keep my hands off of CC 2017 for a while now

I have found the solution, upload an random mp3 file, and now upload your mp4/avi file, you can delete the mp3.

this work for me.

Or alternatively you can just roll back to the previous version and skip all that.

Hasn't worked for me

Yeah, same here, no support for AAC audio in video clips... So far it's saying the video clip is missing audio references used in project. Also, a bunch of clips offline in previous project opened with new version.

Starting new project will not give error, just showing no audio stream available in video clip.

I encountered this exact issue when forward-converting projects that tend to stick around through multiple iterations of Premiere.  This is the solution I found to be most effective on a Windows machine.  If you're on a Mac, I'm sorry, but I don't know how to apply this to MacOS:

  1. Close any Adobe CC Apps
  2. Hit "Windows Button"+R to bring up the Run menu
  3. Enter "%appdata% and hit Run
  4. Go into the Adobe folder
  5. Find the Folder named "Common" and either rename it to anything else or delete it entirely.
  6. Launch Premiere.

This forces Premiere to rebuild a database the gives the program instructions on how to deal with different video codecs.  This workaround came to me from an Adobe Troubleshooting chat and has helped me out a couple of time.

Thanks, it works!

That was fixing my import Problem in PP with DNxHD (MOV) too.

I've been experiencing some glitches today after having updated to the latest Premiere.  Similar to ones mentioned above, but also a few others.  One, I wasn't able to move any clips around on the timeline by clicking and dragging.  Two, none of the keyboard shortcuts were working (even after toggling between different settings).  Three, I had a ghost image appear in my source window (see image) that wasn't associated with the project I am currently working on.  I dug around for a bit, primarily on here, and also spoke to a colleague about my problem.  He suggested I clean my cache which fixed all of the issues I was having.

It's a quick thing to try and it may help some of you out.  Clean that cache!

I have the exact same problem. No audio track for an MP4 file I recorded this morning. Using the same software and the same settings and it worked fine a few days ago.

I am having many issues with the new update. Clips offline, sound issues. It's crashing a lot too. I have rolled back to the latest version of 2015. Very disappointing and a big waste of my time causing delays on projects. WTF, Adobe.

Thats so inconvenient... working on an important project and not able to continue it. The problem is, starting a new project doesnt work for me because .mov files (audio tested with regular media players) havent any audio. Major issue...
