Premiere Pro 2019 Slow, laggy.. freeze..

Hello,

Since i update to 2019 i cannot edit anymore. its crazy slow, freezing, lagging.

It does it on every project. old and new.
My driver are up to date.

I have a beast. everything was smooth before even 4k 60p files..

Geforce GTX 1080 Ti
I9-7940x CPU @ 3.10 Ghz

64 Go ram

I also try proxy. nothing change still laggy.

I did a check for virus etc. nothing. other programe run smooth..

Anyone have the same issue with 2019 update ?

funny how after all this time adobe didn't care much about this huge issu...  I tried everything. realy everything.

The only think that work is re-installing windows.  realy sad that i have to re-install all my other app and every plugin etc. because one app doesn't work properly..

I hope it will help other people. I'll mark it as solve. even if the reason of the lag are still unknow...

Premier Pro CC 2019 on a fully loaded iMacPro is basically unusable.  Does Adobe actually test their shit before shipping it out?

Same issue... iMacPro fully loaded and more issues than I've ever had with playback and lag.

Hello everybody,

TL;DR;

solution -> remove your cache files as described in : FAQ: How to clean (delete or trash) media cache files?

POSSIBLE EXPLANATION

I observed the same behavior as some of you that only specific files are lagging.

What was specially interesting those were files which at least were edited in Premiere. Even after creating copy of those files the copy was NOT lagging. So it seems that new Premiere version has problems with old cache files.

My problem is that my original videos that I'm trying to edit are causing the lagging, if that makes sense. I've tried playing other videos in premiere and they work fine, but once I input the videos I want to edit, the videos start to lag. the video causing the lagging is an MP4.  I also downloaded the video from a google drop box from my class. is there a way to change the video format so it doesn't lag??

I found another potential fix! I just talked with a representative from Adobe as well, and they told me to perform these steps:

Make sure All the adobe applications are closed including Premiere pro.

1) Go to your desktop, Click on Go on top >> Select Go to Folder.

  • Type this:   ~/library/application support/adobe/
  • Rename Premiere pro as premiere pro.old

2) Go to your desktop, Click on Go on top >> Select Go to Folder.

  • Type this:  ~/library/preferences/adobe/
  • Rename Premiere pro as premiere pro.old

3)Go to you documents folder >> adobe >>

  • Rename Premiere pro as premiere pro.old

These are 3 locations to be renamed in order to reset preferences.

I actually have stopped having most of these issues after upgrading to an i9-9900k.

My previous CPU was an i7-8700k, so maybe the problem has something to do with that specific cpu?

Do have it run as administrator?

Latest driver is now 419.19, have you tried that one?

Make sure you do a clean install and reboot computer after every action.

Is your pc up to date: latest windows, bios etc. Is not overclocked?

all updated.. and yes runing as administrator.

the wierd thing is that it lag every 3 seconde exactly. 3 seconde smooth, 1 sec lag, 3 seconde smooth 1 second lag..

Not only during playback, but all the time (even in the menu, on an empty timeline etc..

STOP EVERYTHING!!! I had the same problems of CRAZY LAG upon updating to Premiere Pro.

THIS SOLUTION WORKED FOR ME:

I created a NEW project in 2019 and IMPORTED my 2018 project in and that FIXED everything!!!

This was opposed to trying to open a 2018 file and having Premiere "update" it to 2019. There's something wrong here of course, but this solution made things work again without uninstalling drivers/premiere 2019 etc.

Hope it works for you!

Kas,

Do you have a NVIDIA GPU? If so, please try a clean reinstallation of your GPU drivers: FAQ: Why is my GPU not available for Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration?

Thanks,
