Question

Type and essential graphics not working

When I create a Type/Text object and click in the program window to edit the text it jumps out of program and into Timeline and I can't type anything. When I go to essential graphics and try to highlight the new type box I can't edit it. This new update is complete garbage I've been dealing all week, but this function is completely gone.

We found that it might be the Reference Monitor causing this. Closing the panel should make the issue go away. Since this panel is going away with the next release, it will take this bug with it.

In case you are curious, here the Beta Post about the Reference Monitor deprecation: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-discussions/now-in-beta-deprecation-of-the-in-app-r...

We would like hear if you are others, who have reported this problem, are still seeing this in 24.6.1 or higher (with a closed Reference Monitor). If yes, please post a recent screen recording and provide as much info as possible.

@joshuam54095654,

What version are you in? There was a bug (24.2.1) that I confirmed was fixed in Release 24.3. I've wondered if an "old" project still shows the behavior.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/unable-to-select-text-or-add-new-text-with-type-tool/idi-p/14477923

I posted this in a user's report of this behavior in 24.4.1:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/typing-text-selects-hotkeys/m-p/14673674#M508337

I have a project to finish before I install 24.5.

Hi Joshua,

I am not seeing this behavior on my system in the latest version (24.5.0).

Just to clarify, if you have the text tool selected, you should be able to click the text box once in the Program monitor and then start editing text. However, if you have any other tool selected, you'll need to double-click.

Cheers,
Paul
