New features

Fixed issues

Known issues:

The previous NVIDIA game ready driver (461.09) is conflicting with Premiere Pro 14.8 and Windows PCs with NVIDIA GPUs.

  • Solution 1: Install the Studio driver. download it here.
  • Solution 2: Install the latest Game Ready driver, 461.40 is now available and is working with Premiere Pro 14.8. Download it here.

Please update to either driver, and you'll be clear of the issue. The Studio driver is the preferred one for Premiere Pro users, and provides the better user experience, but either one will work.

i have a 2018 macbook pro 2.6 ghz, 32 ram 6 core. mojave OS.

I'm usung a split screen template for this particular project, mostly 4&5 screens at one time.

anytime i make an edit, i have to render or the playback is choppy. I've done all the common fixes and still no luck. Any advice?

PR Music,

When you've got multiple tracks and graphics playing back, and if you've already reduced playback resolution, you may need to render out sections to get reliable playback. If you are scaling multiple tracks, and add effects to these clips, this compounds the need to render. Is that going to be a problem? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

does this update fixed the issue with the radeon pro 5700XT on the new imac 2020 ?

Hi Franck,

Sorry about this. I have heard that a bug attributed to this GPU was fixed in a recent release from a customer yesterday. I do not see any current bugs related to the GPU on Mac right now. If you could point me to any links discussing the topic, I can follow up on that. Let me know more details about the case so I can have a bit more to go on.

On User Voice, I do see a few people hitting issues. Are any of these the one you are concerned with?

Thank You,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Thanks for your answer.

In fact the more I dig into the radeon 5700xt the more I find problems !

I saw someone yesterday, on adobe community, telling that the issue was fixed in the last update but no one to confirm me the info.

I'm more concern by this problem with the graphic card and I heard from the adobe chat that the render perfomance will be like if I have an iMac from 2011, and this graphic card is a very bad choice 🙂

another page here with one guy telling that the problem was solved  but in the list of adobe recommandation about the graphic card I don't see the 5700xt.

So the best will be that you confirm that the problem has been fixed with the last update, if you have the info !!

Many thanks for your reactivity !

Franck

I'm using Media Encoder for the first time since the upgrade. It's soooooo slow. My videos normally take about 45 minutes to render. I'm at 2hrs on this one. Using 4k Youtube encoding.

Your graphics card is not meeting system requirements, so you may no longer be receiving the benefit of hardware encoding, Matt. See if you can change it to "Metal" in Project Settings > General. If not, you may need to operate with the previous version until you can get a hardware upgrade.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin - great work on the new version!

I'm using a mac with the latest OS Big Sur 11.1.  When I try to start up PrPro 14.8 it freezes on the splash page.  It stops at 'Loading ImporterQuickTime.bundle.

I've seen that this seems to have been noted as a problem before (as far back as 2013) - although it's not clear what the issue is here or what solution actually works.

Any advice here much appreciated!

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

Do you still have QuickTime 7 installed? I have heard that it can interfere with startup. Please have a look and report back.

Thank You,
Kevin

Hi Kevin

Thanks for that, ah, yes, I did see on another thread that QuickTime 7 Pro might cause start up problems.

Alsa, no, I don't have QuickTime 7 install.  Just the standard QuickTime Player on Macs.

So that isn't the issue unfortunately.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

But start up still just compeltely freezes at stops at 'Loading ImporterQuickTime.bundle'.

Thanks again for looking at this!

Richard

Sorry about that, Laura. Do you have a crash report, or are you getting the spinning beachball? What are you doing when it happens. Can we have more info on your machine and source media?

Thank You,
Kevin

Premiere won't load video:

Error:Frame substitution recursion attempt aborting after multiple attempts on file.

The path is correct.  This is keeping me from working on my project and it needs to be resolved ASAP.

I will now try to load the project in a previous version.  Very disappointing.  Clearly insufficient testing of this 14.9 Build 9 to blame I'd say.

Hey Gary,

Sounds like you reverted to the previous version and are back up and running. When you have a spare moment and want to run 14.8, try the Studio Driver, reboot the computer, and report back, my friend.

Hope it helps!

Thanks,
Kevin

UPDATE: So far, the only issue people are having is related to Premiere Pro 14.8, and Windows PCs running NVIDIA GPUs. The latest NVIDIA drivers from Jan. 7 seem to be having issues. Roll back to the earlier set of the Studio drivers to find better success.

Thanks,
Kevin

NVIDIA is a pain but that's what Dell provides.  Why make users change drivers which will likely have other unintended consequences?

Thank you for making the change to the default settings for Red files.  It was so annoying changing the clips manually to IPP2 log on the Dragon 6k files

Kevin,   Is there anyway to set the default Red color setting manually for the entire project or does it always have to start with log with this new release?  I like to see the shots in my browser with a certian color setting.  Now everything defaults to Log.

Thanks

Looks like it also fixed the freezing problem when adding new tracks for people using control surface devices! Just tried it and it seems to be working great with my Loupedeck.
