Acrobat opens on its own on Mac mojave

This has started to happen to me as well.

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC just opens itself at random times on Mac OS 10.14.2. I do not have it as a start-up application and it was not open last time I turned off the computer.

I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro DC until you fix this issue. Very annoying.

Hi All,

Adobe acknowledges the issue of Acrobat Application appearing in the Dock and disappearing on Mac. We are working to fix this issue.

I had to uninstall and just not use Acrobat.

Not sure if this is a permanent fix, but I unchecked two preferences in Acrobat and it stopped trying to open after waking from sleep:

Acrobat > Preferences

1. Internet - Uncheck Allow speculative downloading in the background

2. Updater - Uncheck Automatically install updates (I handle this through the CC desktop manager anyway)

I am trying this out - fingers crossed

Unfortunately the issue persistently persists after checking those Preferences.....

Same problem here, I'm on the latest MacOS (10.14.5) and have no active Creative Cloud subscription. The Acrobat malware keeps opening each time I wake up the computer from sleep.

Same thing happens to me all the time. It just happened moments ago. App appeared on the dock for a few seconds and then disappeared.

I have noticed that it tends to occur when I connect to a new network. Why this would impact a document reader/processor is unclear.

It may be possible to install the base release and a suitable update. However, I'm pretty sure Adobe's intention is that nobody keeps running old software, so people with 10.11 are just left without Acrobat. I don't say this is good.

Try this link. It says it’s a direct download for the subscription version, and has directions for both Mac and Windows:

Download and install Acrobat DC subscription

It is obvious that this is a rampant problem. To routinely ask which version and OS has become tiring and frankly disrespectful of your loyal customers, Adobe. It reminds me of the 80's when we were asked to reboot our computer whenever we called tech support. I can list my OS and version, but suffice it to say it is all up to date. I pay each month so I DO have it all up to date. Therefore, after following this thread for MONTHS waiting for a solution, I can only conclude that this issue of Acrobat opening whenever I connect to my wifi is intentional on the part of the company, and you have no intention of correcting it. Rather, you ask us if we have updated and such.

I consider having my computer doing anything without my permission as a major security threat. It's time for Adobe to fix this!

Hi

There is a separate forum for bug reports where the engineers (and you) can track the issue. Please report the issue here:

Share your feedback on Acrobat DC
and post the link to this thread so others can vote.

It just opened again, all by itself. Yes, all my apps are updated to the latest version. It's time to stop going through the normal "what version are you" "is everything updated" motions and fix this problem. ZERO other apps I have on my Mac have this problem.

Bet that I won't uninstall this program. Shoddy engineering and even worse customer service.

Same issue.

Mac OS 10.11.6

Creative Cloud 2019 (version 4.8.1.435).

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (always updated to the latest version possible, as im still at El Capitan)

Users & Groups>Login Nothing.

Uninstalled it, and now downloading it again to see what happens...

Edit: Actually it seems that i do not have the Acrobat package anymore.... it just disappeared from the Creative Cloud app! And i'm not able to download it again from the website...

Hi Adriano,

Can you find it with Spotlight?

Is it in Applications?

Is it gone or did it just disappear from your Dock?

When you open the Creative Cloud app, what does it say next to Acrobat? Open or Install?

If you can’t reinstall it, contact Customer Care: Contact Customer Care . The Chat icon lingers in the lower right corner.

You can also post your question on installing to this forum:

Hello Jane-e,

Can you find it with Spotlight?

No, because i had it uninstalled. Trying to fix the issue cited...

Is it in Applications?

Nope

Is it gone or did it just disappear from your Dock?

When you open the Creative Cloud app, what does it say next to Acrobat? Open or Install?

As you can see in the print screens, the Acrobat is not in my CC app list...

If you can’t reinstall it, contact Customer Care...

I've tried to contact... but it takes an eternity to get answered!!

Same issue.

Mac OS 10.14.5 (the problem has occurred since I used 10.13)

Creative Cloud 2019

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (always updated to the latest version)

Users & Groups>Login Items, I only have AdobeResourceSynchronizer selected  Nothing else is listed

And YES, all of my Adobe apps are updated to the latest versions.  To be honest, no app should open on its own without being listed and selected in Login Items.  What kind of nonsense is suggesting that a user has to update their apps just because tech support can't figure out why Acrobat Pro DC opens on people's systems?  It shouldn't matter.  Only Acrobat Pro DC does this.

Same issue. Mojave 10.14.4 on my Mac Air, Reader 2019.010.20099, build 19.10.20099.322322. Reader opens randomly, and I force quit it like I usually do. 30 seconds later, does the same thing. Reader is supposed to be a stable program and widely installed on all computers, but it looks like the Mac version of this app is not stable. And the fact that we haven't gotten a response from  meenakshin83966505 since March 14th is just abominable. Very disappointed that this hasn't been elevated yet, even though there's two threads that I've seen with people with the EXACT same issue.
